What do you think about him now? this man has a philosophy and he is making it happen, he did not spend millions on a franchise just to see it flounder, I love what he said in his interview " we want a tough attacking football team" how can you not like that?.....GO WOODY!!!!!!!

    J -E -T -S..... JETS, JETS, JETS!!!!

I have always loved Woody! He brought Parcells to the team, he offered the job to Bellichick, he had the balls to take a chance on Mangini, he tried tooth and nail to bring the Jets to New York City where they belong, he went out and paid big bucks for huge talent, and now Rex. Everyone loves to hate the Management. It happens on most teams, in every sport. But I love Woody!!!

Woody didn't even own the team when we hired Parcells.

He did not fight tooth and nail to keep the Jets in NY. For his own stadium, he tried, but even in the end, when according to everyone' fav Francessa, the Mets tried to work out a deal with the Jets for a joint stadium in NYC, he turned them down.

BS. Stop blaming Woody for what the New Yorkers did to themselves. The only douche owner in NY is Dolan and his precious concern over Madison Square Garden.

You beat me to it. What he could have said was that Woody drove Parcells out of town when he did buy the team.

You have no clue. He advertised the f out of the Jets coming to Manhattan. For so long, it looked like a done deal. Plans were made up, and Jets logos were plastered throughout Manhattan. And if it weren't for MSG and one a-hole Councilman, it would have happened. It had nothing to do with the Mets. The Jets didn't want to be in Queens. The team wanted to be in the real New York City, Manhattan. Not Long Island with the lowly Mets and Islanders!

Yes, because Manhattan is so glitzy. He wanted it his way, and in the end, the Jets are in Jersey.

Personally, I don't understand why when the city turned him down for the 600 million (300 for the platform and 300 for the infrastructure), why he didn't go ahead and do it anyway. He could have gotten 100 milllion from Related, 100 million from Tishman, etc etc...built the damn thing just to spite Silver and Bruno, and given the real estate companies a piece of the action on the stadium, but not the team.

Maybe someone can clue me in if this was possible.

And that's where they will stay so lets deal with the here and now. I had a problem with Woody being the second coming of Hess for a long time. Seems once he ante'd up an extra $400billion for the joint venture in Jersey, he suddenly became a bit more demanding of his franchise (employees).

Suddenly, late season collapses aren't explained away anymore as good effort but bad results. Now? You'll walk the plank. Woody seems alot more tuned into what kinda of team he wants and what kind of leadership he wants. He'll never be Al Davis and for that I'm thankful but there is a danger he'll become Dan Snyder in that trying to buy a VLT instead of developing a solid franchise in an effort to get some ROI.

Either way, it appears our owner is growing into the position and that can't be bad.

I don't understand why anyone would have strong feelings either way about Woody Johnson as the owner of the Jets...

As owners go, we could have certainly have done a lot worse than Woody. The things I like most about him are that he recognizes mistakes and corrects them and that he is willing to make bold moves to try and improve the franchise. He's not cheap and is willing to spend as much money as the rules allow to acquire winning players. There are no sure things and he has relied on his GMs and coaches as to where and on whom his money should be spent. Some moves have worked out and other haven't. People who believe that Woody is an obstacle to our team's success truly have no clue whatsoever.

I agree with this entirely. Woody never professed to be a great football mind, but he has made ballsy moves, he offered to foot much of the West Side Stadium's cash, and when he makes mistakes, he corrects them. Most people just like to bitch and moan about their teams' managements. But Woody's damn good.

I don't understand how anyone can ignore it. Look around the league at the effect owners have on their teams. And REALLY look how Woody is affecting the Jets.
