Why Cant we have Rex Ryan Coach and be the D-cord. And not even have a D-cord. Didnt BB do this up in New England?
Too much for one guy to do, especially during practices. Unless you're going to ignore the rest of the team.
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=41669 I wonder the same thing. There are teams whose head coaches call the offense, so why not the defense? Maybe you still have a DC to help planning throughout the week but I don't see why he couldn't call the D on Sundays.
BB always had a DC... why the fuck does this franchise have to be the test dummy franchise? Stick to what has worked for 80 years in this game we call football.
Ryan is going to have alot of input on defense and has stated numerous times Pettine who will be the DC has been his right hand man. I'm sure his playcalling is going to be extremely similar if not exactly what Ryan would call.
I think the only time BB called the plays in NE was around week 5 out the year Manretard was their DC and they had one of the worst D’s in the league. BB made the adjustment after five games and took away responsibilities…woody finally got it after three years.
Why is it retarted? He was a d-cord and I'm sure he will bring his defensive game plan in anyhow. People like you annoy the shit out of me and ruin this site. It seems like some people on here try to be funny guys and just try to make an ass out of others. You just make an ass out of yourself. I think I asked a decent question and if you dont like it dont reply.
It's a little off topic, but in 1980, Walt Michaels decided the Jets didn't need an Offensive Coordinator. (Does anyone here know why he did that?) Michaels let Richard Todd call the plays that season. The result was 4-12 and 26 interceptions. The Jets quickly hired Joe Walton after the season to run the offense which he turned around in 1981. Back on topic, I am quite sure Ryan will have a big presence in the defense and will make some of the calls during games.
because why on earth would that ever even be a remote possibility? it just makes zero sense football-wise.
Why does it make zero sense? If head coaches can also call the offense, what is so absurd about a head coach also calling the defense? Explain why it makes zero sense.
That's a pretty bold statement... That it makes zero sense football-wise for a man who has been the defensive coordinator of one of the league's consistently best defenses for the last couple years to not have a remote possibility of calling his own defensive plays during the game as head coach. Look, it probably wont happen but there's no reason to think that it is impossible or be a jackass about it.
