Has us taking Tyson Jackson. No argument here, but i wouldnt mind if Malualga or Everette Brown slipped down a spot to us. http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php
Scott Wright's had us taking Tyson Jackson in three straight mocks, correct? I honestly think most of his stuff is garbage.
Hopefully Sanchez will be there... Everette Brown is a guy that I hope falls - Rex Ryan would turn him into an absolute monster off the edge. Sintim would bolster the middle of our defense, but he may be a bit of a reach at 17 - maybe we can trade back into the 20s and get him?
Corner, Saftey, WR & MLB if we dont resign Barton & QB if Favre retires are all spots we need more than DE
absolute best case scenario for the jets would be if everette brown fell to them at 17 and mccoy lasted till our pick in the 2nd. this is just a fantasy tho.....
Jackson is a perfect 3-4 DE, I wouldn't be upset with him at all. However if Vonte Davis or Mark Sanchez are still on the board at 17 we have to go with one of them.
Not really. One of the reasons we had no pass rush, even with blitzing was because of our DE's. Jenkins can sometimes need to be blocked by 2 guys, but everyone else is an easy one on one. If we get Jenkins some help it would free up the pass rushers a little better. Especially in the way Ryan likes to go after the QB. Its a big time need and a possibility if Jackson is still there. I'm split right now between Jackson/best avail. DB/ best avail. RB. Right now Jackson is the clearest answer, if not the best. Mr. E is right on this, I like Ziggy Hood as well.
We do? Gettign after the QB was a huge problem in the second half. While our OLB's were not getting it done enough, Kenyon Coleman was not doing it all year. At this point I think he is little more then an expensive stop gap and DE. We need to upgrade there badly.
Guys I'd rather have than Tyson Jackson: Everette Brown B.J. Raji LeSean McCoy Knowshon Moreno Vontae Davis Brian Cushing
I would boo that pick too me he's not a first round pick and we have other needs thats need to be addressed before de, corner so we could move lowery to safety potentially, a ILB and then a WR
i think he's the best back in the draft, but i see guys like moreno, wells, etc getting drafted ahead. i think the farthest mccoy would fall is late first, however. like i said, him lasting to our 2nd round pick is just a fantasy of mine
ILB is by far our biggest need with the possible exception of the quarterback position. We also need to upgrade either the cornerback or safety position but it would be a stretch to say that we need to put a high priority on both positions (although it would be nice to fix both spots). Wide receiver is a luxury, we have no superstar but could easily get by with Coles, Cotch, Stuckey, and Clowney. Upgrading Kenyon Coleman and improving depth at DE would help our defense in a big way. My hope would be that we spend money to get free agents at ILB and DE. I think we can find a good corner in round two to address our problems in the secondary. BAP in round one would most likely be a WR.
Tyson jackson would be a nice pickup at DE. KenYon coleman seems to be more of a back up then a legit starter. Jackson could be a force at DE in the 3-4 and help the OLB's breakthrough.
one of the guys from this site updated our #17 pick. http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2009.php i can say that i'm happy with his selection, and i'm very much a supporter for dwight lowery, but adding competition in the CB's on our team will bring out the best in an already talented pool. but i do agree. QB is not our most pressing need. Bolstering the defense is. I agree that defensive end is a need. as well as our secondary, and hopefully we can have a solid, steal pick to bolster our linebackers in the 4th or 5th.
I see the same situation panning out for him. Wells plays for a bigger school and Moreno's name has been one of the bigger ones in this draft. I think McCoy could fall to us here and he would be a great addition to the team.
Trevard Lindley. we can address two needs with this pick. we take Trevard Lindley in the 2nd round, and take Everette Brown in the 1st hopefully if he falls to us, which I am anticipating that he will. Once the combine takes place, and the more "flashier" positions, the Kenny Britt's, and McCoy's rise in stock, Everette Brown will remain high but not as high as he's being projected now. We will have an excellent press corner, which is the primary weakness in Dwight Lowery's skillset. He is subpar in press coverage. Lindley is the opposite.
The good news...this seems to be a deep and talented draft, so sitting at 17 may not be a bad thing. We could end up with a talented player, without a top 5 price tag, or the possibility of trading down and accumulating more picks. I like Jackson, but would love him better if we were able to slide back and still draft him. 17 feels like it's too high to take him. I'm not sold on Sanchez as a franchise QB, and not so sure that the QB's we currently have on the roster aren't as good or better. Whatever the team decides to do...I'll support.
