They should have just sold the stadium naming rights to a corporation and done away with the PSLs and new stadium construction costs.

The problem with the current stadium is the same problem the new one has. It has 2 different team names on it.

They are still selling the naming rights to the stadium.

I meant they should have sold the name of the OLD stadium, painted some of the seats green, and screw the new construction. i know they backed off selling the name of the new stadium to a company that was in some way unAmerican.

Agreed. Giants stadium is a very good place to watch a football game.

The bathrooms alone are disgusting and are probably illegal in most countries!

But seriously, have you traveled to any of the newer stadiums?
I've been to a few and have to say the stadium sucks yaknutz.

The thing is, the Jets had no claim to the current stadium, so once the Giants decided to knock it down we had to do something. Ideally you could have just put in a green layer of seats and change the name, but it wasn't the Jets' call to make.

Is the new stadium going to be any bigger than the old one? Not seats -- but "inside"?

It looks the same to me.

And they won't have autonomy to make decisions for the best interests of the team regarding the new stadium either. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

its like a gift and a curse. the pluses of our current home are the site lines, the tailgating(which will definitely change with the new stadium mark my words they want to end it), and (pre 2008) the tits at gate D. The minuses are its filthy, the bathrooms are filthy, and its not ours. The new stadium will be much nicer and actually be our home, but its gonna cost us. either way it sucks ass

Giants Stadium, aside from the fact that it's called "Giants Stadium," has a lot wrong with it. For the most part, it's a dirty, classless pit of a stadium that brings no respect to either team that calls it home.

The facility is awful. The amenities for fans are severely lacking when compared to the newer stadiums throughout the league. The amenities for players, most notably the training rooms and locker rooms are pits and not even on par with some of the better college stadiums around the country.

The Jets (and Giants) have the right to either upgrade their current facility or build a new one if they can find the funding. If it means raising prices and seeking more corporate money, so be it. Woody Johnson owns the Jets, not the fans. The money he makes from the new stadium, PSLs, merchandise sales does line his pockets, but he also uses it to pay hefty signing bonuses and salaries to staff and players of the team. The more money he makes, the more he's going to spend on the team to increase its value and earn more return on his investment.

The new stadium will attract players and corporate dollars, which is what the business of professional football is all about. It isn't about the fans or their gameday traditions.

If you don't like the idea of the new stadium, then just don't go to it. If you don't want to have to pay a PSL, then don't pay it and surrender your tickets. If you want to grill out, watch football and see naked boobs, then have your buddies over, watch the game at home and go to a titty bar after the game.

Teams want to provide their fans with a first-class experience with a variety of food choices, contemporary multi-media experiences, a clean, safe environment and an overall first-rate entertainment experience. The days of getting wasted on beers in the parking lot and peeing next to your car after the game are (thankfully) approaching an end as teams are pricing out the type of fan that gets too drunk, starts fights, flashes boobs and gets arrested.

So yes, in the end it is all about money.

I have tickets in 339, and my seat has been broken for two years now. I can't sit on the edge of the seat even though I haven't been given a reason to. I have also been to LP Field in Tennessee and that is a beautiful stadium compared to Jets Stadium. I'm not sure how LP Field compares to other stadiums but it was clean and enjoyable.

It's sad that every reason that people didn't want the WSS is now coming to fruition in the new shared NJ stadium. PSLs, possible end of tailgating, etc.

I think the idea of a new stadium is fine if that's what makes Woody happy and as long as he's willing to pay for it. I don't particularly need it or want it though. I won't pay for it, that's for sure. But I will go to it, thank you. You act as though I don't have any other option, "You don't like it, don't go to it." Laughable.

I don't like the idea but I WILL continue going to the games.

Well, there you go again, bunky. Like there's no other way but the highway.

I don't want to pay a PSL (and won't), but I am going to use my ticket seniority as leverage to move up to the PSL-free Upper Deck. I'll still have a decent seat in the stadium without paying for the cockamamie stadium.

As lousy as you claim the old stadium is, building a new stadium is as equally lousy an idea. In fact, it borders on obscene.

Obscene because the current stadium is perfectly servicable. The average fan spends no more than 24 hours per year in the place (3 hours X 8 games) and the players aren't there much longer. Obscene because the current stadium has better sightlines than the new stadium will have. Obscene because the new stadium doesn't accomodate any more seating than the current one and obscene mostly because the expense to be incurred is off the charts in an economy that has people struggling to put food on the table and creditors away from the door.

Obscene because to many in this country, it's never enough. Bigger, newer, more expensive and more "state-of-the-art" means more happiness. People barely making ends meet and unable to even afford health adequate insurance, and its okay to piss away billions on an unnecessary, under-utilized building. Unbelievable.

U R forgetting that the payees for the are us thru the PSLs. Also the building/funding of the new stadium is being borne by the NYJs/NYGs not a public entity. All the Meadowlands authority did is give them the land to build the new stadium on. If you were Woody & found a scheme to propel your investment from the orginal 625M to 1.2B you to would do exactly what Woody has done & you know I am not a Woody defender but it is just simple common business sense to do what Woody & the NYGs ownership have done. Like you said you can smile cause U got around the PSLs due to your seniority but alas sorry to say other season tix holders will not be so lucky
