I hope this report is true...I'd like to see if Mangini REALLY was holding Schotty back. The proof will be in the pudding this upcoming season.

I glad Schotty is staying on(if true) I'm hoping he proves all Jets fans wrong. I do think this is the right decision & don't think Schotty is nearly as bad as most Jets fans believe.

I'm all aboard the "Schotty Jr. OC train"...I just didn't want him as our HC.

This is good for our young QB's. Hopefully Ryan can force him to commit to the run game.

The Star Ledger reported this morning that Ryan is supposedly okay with Schottenheimer. He has a year left on his contract and they specualted he will probably be offered more money and a contract extension.

It also listed several other Ravens assistant coaches that may come over to the Jets.

They won't keep Westhoff for ST? No need to get rid of him.

Actually the guy on espn made the most sense when he said Ryan will meet with all the current staff and see where things stand before anything becomes permanent.

Keep in mind Shotty had to change his gameplan and offense to suit a certain QB.

The OL played well this year, so I'd keep callahan as well as Westhoff, but it's ultimately the call of the new HC.

i thought everyone hated schotty jr (myself included) because of his bizarre and retarded play calling for the last half of the season... ie giving TJ and LW a combined like 10 touches when we're down a TD the whole game (see SF). now we want him here? holy crap

I'm not ready to write him off. He schemed and called plays for an essentially conservative coach. Let's see how he does with Ryan.

I would much rather prefer Hue Jackson as our O coordinator than Schotty

If we are going to build a different kind of D, one that is tough at the point of attack, applies pressure and gets a lot of three and outs, keeps teams from scoring obscene amount of points, keeping drives going forever and basically using our Defensive players as girl friends, why keep the WCO? Why not get a coordinator who believes in running the ball and going over the top like Balitimore and Pittsburgh?

Where does this say he is staying? Did anybody actually read this? If Ryan doesn't want him or if he wants to leave he is gone. So what if he has a year left on his contract? I'll believe it when the Jets say it.

geez - i stand corrected - yes westhoff should be retained as well.

guess i overlooked him cause, IMO, he isn't a typical coordinator per se but kind of a special asst to head coach who oversees ST.

so BS and westhoff retained, others are let go.

it makes sense to give the defensive minded coach carte blanche with the defensive staff while keeping the other 2 phases in continuity if possible.
