I'm a little tentative to believe that a complete regime change is going to help this team immediately. We'll see how he does next year.
This does 3 things: 1. Mangini is not the worst coach in the NFL. 2. Gives the Jets a better chance to beat them next year. 3. Hurts teams next year who have to interview a black person for HC.
I was thinking losing Kiffin alone was enough to push them back 4 games. Gruden and Kiffin gone is alot of stability, experience, and winning gone. I guess it was time for a change over there though.
Wow, a lot of negativity here about Morris. Is it because of the lack of experience (a la Herm and Mangini at the time of their hirings), or something else? I admit that I know nothing about him.
Its his lack of experience (a coordinator for a week?) and the fact of who he is replacing. In my opinion you should be replaced with someone better than yourself. In my opinion, this is not the case. Overall horrible move in Tampa.
it was crazy 12 or 13 years ago when they named Tony (who???) coach of the team which hadn’t had a winning season in decades. Rich Kotite would be better than Jon Gruden.
Tony Dungy had already established himself as a defensive coordinator. He was a hot name for multiple seasons before he got the Buccaneers job. When the Bucs hired Dungy, if any Bucs fans asked, "Tony who?" then they were not paying attention to the league and were/are simply poor excuses for fans.
Morris is of the Dungy discipline like Tomlin, Herm and Marinelli (and Herm and Marinelli are not as bad as they get seem?not great but not that bad). I?d take someone from the Dungy tree than the Bellichicken tree any day ? especially when the Tampa two is already in place.
Yeah...Now now the Bucs have lost the creators of the Tampa Two in Dungy and Kiffin. Herm sucks...Marinelli 0-16. Tomlin...Whats he really do? The WORST guy in going for it on 4th downs...Doesn't touch the offense...And doesn't touch LeBeau's 3-4 defense. Good guy, emotional...But not great. Morris? A Defensive Coordinator at Kansas St.? And a DB coach for 2 seasons? Hmm...
Is this the first person on a Hofstra coaching staff to get a HC position in the NFL? Either way, GO PRIDE!
