I didn't think Cromartie was great in 2007. He was good, though, for sure.

As for 2008, yeah, he was bad. In his defense he was playing injured and has some sort of hip issue.

i agree with point one.a better pass rush wouldnt fix everything.
however... i know, because it is evident with teams with a solid pass rush and good secondary, (you dont need to have a great secondary), that it produces turnovers. turnover on downs, picks, and perhaps a sack or forced fumble. giving the QB all day to release the ball, spells disaster for any secondary, see Bob Sanders in Indy, he is an amazing talent playing behind an aging d-line. if he had more of a pass rush he could play his assignments better than he already does, as well as the rest of the secondary.

the point is, with no pass rush, your covering the ENTIRE field rather than your man, or zone, because the QB has all day to throw.

True. The Giants had one more sack, however it generated alot of turnover on downs. I see more Giants games on my network for some reason, and I can see the intensity produced by Spagnoulo's blitz packages, that is lacking on the Jets. Against the run the Jets are solid, against the pass the D-Line lacks finesse and speed to complement their strength.

But Webster is a good corner.
    Not better than Revis.

There is nothing counter factual than a simple football equation. QB + Time = Pass Yards. QB - Time = Forced passes + turnovers.

No its more like: the Giants secondary benefits from a great rush, without which would expose them as an average/below average secondary. The Jets secondary is rarely gets a great rush which benefits them, since there is not as much of a rush the secondary is average/below average

Also Im not necessarily knocking Corey Webster in terms of an individual player ( I mean he went to LSU so I like most former LSU players) I cant say I've seen a ton of his game and Im sure he does a good job (hence he would not be on that list) Im saying that Revis is a better corner than Webster

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I think the counter factual (implication) is that "Webster plays with a better team around him and without that he wouldn't be as good." This may be true, but until the Giants team around him does fall apart and we see his play we can only speculate. Revis has done a good job with an up and down defense, and there is no reason to believe that Webster can't do the same.

I think the Giants secondary is the unsung strength of their team, the LBs are nothing special outside of Pierce and the dline suffered two key loses and had 2 first time starters. I think the Giants have a secondary that sometimes bails them when they don't get pressure. Ross and Webster are both physical and talented young corners. Dockery and Thomas are good nickels with Thomas have a very high ceiling. And the safeties are big and athletic (both Johnson and Butler are 6'3") and have highly touted rookie Kenny Phillips backing them up.

The Giants pass-rush is given far too much credit when they play well because it was that pass rush that won the Super Bowl in '07. But watch the games closely and you'll see there is some great coverage being played by that secondary on the whole.

Theres also know reason to believe that Revis couldnt do what Webster does and better if he were on the Giants. One plays on a good defense and one plays on a bad one. It's really tough to tell. But if you were telling me right now who to pick (homer stuff aside) I would take Revis.

That would be amazing if we had Asomugah and Revis and Rhodes in the backfield....I know it's a joke but it's going to be cool to see Revis and Asomugha play in the Pro Bowl alongside each other.

LowerY not starting in a Rex Ryan defense. Your going to ask your Cbs to play alot more man to man in his defense. Lowery would get abused .

BTW Did anyone notice Raiders had three Cb's in the top eleven. Not bad for a team that got rid of deaNGELO HALL.

No Raiders CBs specialty is man to man defense(nobody in man to man defense more than Raiders) Deangelo Hall couldn't play in their defense and AL Davis admitted his mistake and cut the guy. (have to give him alot of credit)
Rex Ryan defense calls for speed at CB and CBs that can specialize in man to man defense. There is a reason he traded for Fabian washington. Again anyone thinks Lowery is going to have a long Jet career. Is in for a rude awaking. Lowery can't play in a rex Ryan defense.

Yea your Wrs couldn't get any seperation from Raiders Cbs. Not to mention Jets didn't even see Chris Johnson ( a way better CB opposite N Asomugha) than Deangelo hall. Oh well there is always next year. Hopefully your Wrs and team put up a better showing next yedar in Oakland.

Excuse me what is the topic of this thread. Cbs Right? Going off topic. You do know when you go with a young Qb it usually takes time. Ryan and Flacco aren't something special both just lucked out going to a team oline could protect them and had a running game to lean on. Raiders running game was severly limited by injuries and Raiders didn't have the tackles to protect Russell. Russell really came on down the stretch and a big part of that was Mario Henderson taking over LT. Henderson shutout R Seymour, Mario williams and Gaines adams to end the season. Raiders will go as far as Russell takes them. All they need is a RT (assuming Henderson accomplishment was no fluke)

An Oline like this LT Mario Henderson 6'7 305 LG R gallery 6'7 325(should have made hios first probowl last year) C Jake Grove 6y'4 305 RG Kwame harris6'7 325- was disaster at Lt, but like gallery better fit at guard. Rt Michael Oher 6'5 315-325 ( Number 1 pick)

With that oline raideers running game and passing game would be scary.

we have threads for you to rant about your team. That team just broke the record for consecutive seasons with 11+ losses with 6.
