Just heard it on Daily News Live, also Mort at ESPN reported that he is in the running for the o-coordinator job. I got no idea how this thing is going down, but i see this as good news for Rex and for the anti-schotty movement (which i am a member of). Thoughts?

It'll be interesting to see what the Jets do at this point. If they say no to the Lions and do not retain Schotty at some point it will be a huge black eye for them. Blocking people from moving on when you want to keep them is standard practice. Blocking people and then letting them go is bad business.

It seems like Ryan has already agreed to keep shotty if hired. I do see the value in keeping him at OC especially if we go with kellen or Ratliff. It would be much easier for them to be in the same system. I would also like to see what was really Mangini's fault and how much Shotty was handcuffed. If it were a HC interview I say let him do it but not for a lateral move. Besides unless it is for ALOT more money why would he want to?

This must be like some kind of weird test - If you love something, set it free; if it takes a job in Detroit, it was too stupid to love in the first place.

spreading out 5 wide on 3rd and 1 fits in well with how Detroit plays offense.

Sold. Maybe we can get back a 5th rd pick for him. (if that's even possible...ok, I'll take a bag of balls and a couple of season tix)

If we get a pick for shotty, let him go.

God, yes and if we could get a draft pick to, I'd be happier than the day the Herm left. Callahan for OC!

I don't know if I'd really care if they hire him as OC, esp if we get compensation.

But what I wonder is, why would he want to be the OC there instead of here? Unless, he thinks the Jets are gonna let him go...

Why does everyone think the Jets would get compensation??? That's crazy!!

First, it's a lateral move, so the Jets can refuse the interview, cause Schott is under contract. I'm not saying Schott is great, but be carefull what you ask for......it may not be better.

Let him go and bring in Gruden for an OC. Rex and Gruden would be golden.

Would Gruden settle for an OC job at this point in his career?

I wouldn't mind Callahan as Offensive Coordinator.

I'm not opposed to this idea either.

It's hard to support Schotty based on what we've seen of him the past 2 years. However, the more interest I see other teams giving Schotty, the more I second-guess ditching him so quickly. I mean, there's gotta be a reason teams are inquiring about him, right?

I was thinking pretty much the same thing, just not nearly as funny.

I'm sure Gruden is just chomping at the bit at being an OC. while we are at it, maybe we can get Mike Shannahan as the WR coach.
