Mays definitely should have declared. He probably wanted to go back to fine-tune his game and record some INTs so people would not say he isn't a ballhawk , but an injury or a down year will really cost him financially. I had him going to the Raiders at #7 overall and at the latest #15 to Houston. Next year though he will be challenged for that #1 S spot by Eric Berry and even Morgan Burnett who is another real ballhawk. An injury is going to hurt him greatly in what can be the best S draft class in a very long time. 2010 Safeties: Taylor Mays, Eric Berry, Deunta Williams, Reshad Jones, Morgan Burnett, Chad Jones, Kam Chancellor, Nate Allen, Major Wright If he gets hurt or if USC has a down year, Mays could find himself right in the middle of that list.
The only guys on that list that could/should go ahead of Mays are Eric Berry and Chad Jones. Mays will probably be the best safety in 2010 though - especially if he runs in the low 4.3s. T-Mays wanted to go back because the USC Trojans are treated like Los Angeles' professional football team. He's probably viewed as a god on that campus.
