Per Heyman on Hot Stove on MLB Network Ollie was offered a 3 yr around 30 mil. Says that Omar prefers Perez, but others in the organization like Lowe more.
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/s...braves_lowe.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab Get Ollie in the truck NOW.
You can forget that offer, that's for sure - with Lowe getting 4 years $60 million from Atlanta, I can't see Boras agreeing to fewer years and a lot less money per year for Ollie.
Maybe so, but now the Mets have no leverage. I could see 4 years $40-45 million being what it takes now.
I've got to believe that Perez is asking for a bit more then 4 years 45M. I mean they were paying him 6.5M last year I don't see why they would balk at a 4 year deal for a few mil more a year, especially when they really need him back now.
I was originally going to say 4 years $50 million, but cut it back to 45 just because I don't see anyone out there who would pay the 50. This is now big game of chicken - the Mets clearly need him back, but there doesn't seem to be any other team he can use as leverage. Either way, they have to re-sign him. I have to think that the Mets aren't going to get those additional $83 million in tax-free bonds they want. Combine that with the $200 million Sterling Equities lost with Madoff, and you have to start wondering if they're going to start restricting Omar's budget.
I'd have to imagine that would be the end of Omar considering he's traded away any talent other than F Mart and who the hell knows if this kid is the real deal or not? As for Lowe.... enjoy losing in Atlanta you greedy bastard.......
Johan says he will let the Mets decide whether or not he pitches in the WBC. I fervently hope they decide no. This thing is ridiculous anyway, and the risk to pitchers is totally unacceptable. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11259710
sign ollie 3 years $39 million sheets 2 years and pedro 1 year. both contracts incentive lated tell pedro to do the clemens .wait till after the all star game to get ready so he doesnt get tired
I can't believe Sheets is still out there..... I like him so I'd hope he doesn't end up in a shit situation with the Pirates or Padres because nobody good wants to take a risk with his health. (Oh wait the Padres signed Mark Prior so he's not goin there)
I doubt the Mets will get Sheets. He's great when healthy, but he's not healthy often enough. The Mets have had enough problems keeping the rotation healthy the last few years. I also hope the Mets say no to Santana pitching in the WBC. He's coming off surgury and they need him healthy. Can't risk having him get hurt there. Any thoughts to the Mets signing Alex Cora?
