I dont understand this. Mangini was fired early, and this was clearly so they could get a big time coach...

How even now could they not go and win and dine this guy and throw him money and power to get him here...

I know he has family reasons, but everyone has their breaking point. Its not too late.

The Jets never thought they would land Favre and they did. Cowher can still be our HC.

Rex Ryan??? Are you kidding me??? Maybe just maybe we will get lucky, but Al Groh, Herm, and mangini have all been a bust. This is a disaster. Mangini shuld never have been fired if we are rreplacing him for another asst.

Oh, and we are going to KEEP Brian schott here??? He was a big part of the collapse...

I don't think its out of the realm of possibility--but BC didn't make any kind of gesture or allusion this weekend on TV signaling that maybe he's thinking about coaching this year. The seeds been planted--it might grow.

of course they could still pursue him. and of course there is the possibility that he may agree to coach. but the fact remains he has said he does not want to, and it is as absolutely asinine for the Jets to waste time pursuing him instead of going after equally viable candidates as it is to think doing such would be a good idea.

why can't they get him? because he doesn't want to be gotten.

I know he doesn't want to coach, but that doesn't mean he wont do it. You throw enough money at someone to take over your organization and its possible he will come. To not try is ridiculous.

Its clear that Tanny through Mangini under the bus... he is afraid to pursue Cowher because its clear he would be demoted. I actually think he has done a good job, despite the collapse, but what he is doing is wrong.

Its a waste of time? You think Spags Ryan and B schott will be gone 4 months from now? It is worth the time, the freakin playoffs aren't even over yet.

That is what most employers like doing. Hire someone with no motivation who is merely there for the $$$$$$

Yes, let's spend the next 2 months courting a guy that doesn't want to coach anymore, in the meantime all of the other quality HC candidates either get snatched up or re-affirm their jobs with their current teams, all of the quality assistants get snatched up, the team publicly embarrasses themselves 10 times more than they did in the initial fiasco, and the team continues to have no real CS to prepare for the upcoming season and the draft.

    Perfect.

It was a nice idea, but it isn't going to happen and it isn't worth it.

How long does it actually take to woo a man to coach your team. I think Two months is pushing it. Im thinking two weeks max. That would be today. Are the other coaches still available? Yes.

You should intern with an organization... your way of thinking would be gone in a week, maybe as little as 4 days.

It took less than a week for him to go from wanting to talk to them to outright saying he wasn't coaching. 2 weeks? You're living in a fantasy world.

I could have said that the money would have enticed him to come and back and do what he loves earlier, but I think even if that wasnt the case he would do a fine job once you get him here. You disagree?

this money thing isn't going to do it... he has his ring and a great legacy in Pittsburgh.

This isn't madden, you can't up the salary numbers and then the little alert box comes up as "accepted offer."

I disagree, this entire board had given up on getting Favre, and due to persistence and due diligence by the Jets Org. they made it happen. It was never in impossibility.
