ESPNews reports Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree and Ball State QB Nate Davis will enter the 2009 NFL Draft. edit: sorry, seems someone beat me to this
Ehh...there really isn't much to know other than James Williams a Division III corner. I looked up his stats on the SCSU website and he really doesn't stand out that much: He's not their return man, so he must not have BLAZING speed. He only has 23 tackles, 3 INTs and 9 pass breakups, so he's not putting up AMAZING stats. I had never heard of this kid until I saw reports of him entering the draft early -- he has good height for a corner at 6'0, but he doesn't seem like a worthy draft pick right now -- not even in the 7th round.
I'm just curious considering I live in CT and have never heard of him. SCSU is actually division II not III. The only thing you can guess is based on his limited stats perhaps teams didnt throw in his direction alot and he was a top flight coverage corner...otherwise you have to wonder why he declared and why he's even being acknowledged by draft circuits.
brown's my first choice. i like maybin's potential but he's not ready yet physically and needs to add some weight. hardy's my second preference and right now i'd love him....but he's already around 265-270 pounds and as he gains some more weight, he may become too big for 34 OLB.....who knows how that'll affect his ability to play OLB effectively. right now everette may have more to his pass rush repertoire but hardy is still an amazing talent and is a pretty fluid athlete as well. he probably will drop to 17 because of supposed character issues and injuries, but i'd love to pick him up.
There goes the Jets' chances of drafting a GOOD young quarterback. Stafford will be gone top five now. No other QBs are worth it -- unless Mark Sanchez decides to enter now.
I dont know why everyone continues to want a QB at pick 17 when we can get a playmaker on offense/defense, we don't need a QB in the first round right now, I think that behind a strong running game and a good o-line that clemens and maybe ratliff can both be decent on the squad, we just need someone that can take care of the ball and not make mistakes
Sanchez won't declare either..you know what it's like to be a QB on campus in elite football programs? The NFL can wait.
