Maybe we can get him and Rex Grossman to play QB, we could be Team Rex.

Ryan is strictly a defensive coach. He's going to be our "Head Defensive Coordinator"

Schottenheimer has done a good but not great job as OC. But he's still young and has even had some head coaching interviews around the league...that shows you there's something there.

Ryan knows that it would be wise to just defer to Schottenheimer and let him have the offense. Why bring in somebody else and do a complete overhaul?

Don't care for this news at all. The fact that Ryan is willing to let the Jets dictate his staff to him is a pretty horrible sign, and the fact that the Jets are trying to dictate a staff to their new HC is an even worse one.

This is silly. The head coach is the head coach. He should defer to no one.

Oh, and to whoever mentioned nicknames: come on, his name is already 'Rex'

Still not good enough. Why the fuck would he be required to keep Schitty as OC? Anyone with half a brain knows he is terrible. Besides, who is dumb enough to take a HC job without your own coaches?

It makes sense to keep Schottenheimer on board. Continuity on the offense is a good thing and I'd like to see Schottenheimer with full control of the offense without Daboll around. Look for Mike Pettine, outside linebackers coach in Baltimore to come on as DC/Assistant HC. I'd like to see Westoff come back, same with Callahan but can live with the decision not to.

Belichick completely defered the offense to Weis and then McDaniels. He doesn'y even WATCH the offense half of the time

Continuity of this offense, are you kidding? It has sucked for the entire time Schitenheimer has been here. Even with one of the great QBs of all time at the helm.

Agreed. A coach in demand would NEVER accept those terms.
