Hmmm. My roomate must have tried to fix it today, but she says she didn't so I don't know. None-the-less, when I booted it up, it said: NTLDR is missing. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart. Restarting does nothing but bring me back.
Your roomate messed your shit up! haha... Thats usually caused by the PC trying to boot from something that isn't there. The HDD connection can be loose... take all CD's and floppys out of the PC. Go into the Bios and set the Hard Drive to boot first and that should fix it. If not, slap your roomate in the back of the head and tell him to buy you a new computer
We brought it to a shop, MoBo and Proc managed to get burned out, apperently. Just got her a new computer instead.
Love IT!!!!!!!:breakdance: We are too busy having fun on TGG! Hire a cook & a maid. (The Bosnians are the BEST workers, as well as the ladies from Honduras.)
I never knew what you meant by this. Then one day, I was reading a thread with everyone's pics in it. O........M..........G !!!!!!!! I wanted to jump into my laptop screen and molest him myself. I thought that he was about 106 years old, because he sounds so wise, helpful and stellar smart. I was shocked to see his age, with a face & body to die for. Lucky gf, that one, hope she treats/takes care of him right.
Thanks for the kind words Cassie. I also take house calls! lol I'm glad you don't picture me as this anymore either:
helloooooo maybe i can get some help here I have an external hd I'd been using succesfully for about a year. I moved and it sat in a box in the closet for about 6-7 months. Now when I pulled it out and hooked it up, it's not registering. It installs itself and says"ready for use", but it is not registering in disk management or anything else. Any ideas? Need more info? tytyty
Question... Is it possible to take unused RAM from my computer and use it to boost my video card? I have 4 Gb of RAM but Dell sent me the 32 bit Vista so there's a whole gig that the system doesn't recognize. I have the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card with 256 MB. Could I take the extra gig from my computer and apply it toward the video card? Would it even really make a difference?
Within that 6 or 7 months have you made any changes to your computer? Try using different USB ports as well.
Send it back and get the 64bit version. I'm not aware of any way that you can utilize any unused RAM as video memory, but I will look it up and get back to you.
I've got some nasty little fuck called Spy Sheriff or something like that. It appears to be more of a nuisance than anything but it's really starting to piss me off. Is it causing more serious damage than it appears and how do I get rid of this thing?
Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs Should be in there to uninstall... if not let me know and I'll follow ya through another way.
It's not there to remove, from doing some research on this thing it apparently is tough to get picked up by anti spy software. I've run AVG and AD Aware and it's still there. Apparently there is a way to manually remove it but I wouldn't feel comfortable trying it.
Need laptop advice This past weekend I came home to find that my laptop had a completely white screen. I tried rebooting it to no avail... still all white. I could see that the lights and the hd were working as usual, just nothing but white screen. I've since hooked it up to an external monitor and accessed the laptop. I'm going to hook an external HD to move my data off of it for safe keeping. My questions is, has anyone dealt with this before? It seems my pc itself is good, don't think this would be a graphic card issue. Just a problem with the screen itself. Is this repairable? Is it worth repairing? I didn't find a lot online about it. And I've never cracked the case on a laptop before.
I was going to do that but I don't really feel the need. Vista and my system is running fine, and I don't feel like spending the extra money. Unless it would make a noticeable difference I'm fine for now, but I don't know if it would or not.
Ok, so filed under the F*ck me department... I come home to hook up the external HD and get my data tonight... open the case and press the power button and... NOTHING. Nada. I can see the AC adapter light is lit, but no power kicks on when I press the power button. I tried pulling the battery out of it for a couple of minutes and putting it back in, replugging in the AC adpater and starting it.. the power light came on for less than 5 seconds and then poof. Nothing again. So now I have an LCD issue, and a power issue. Is it possible that I will just need a new battery for it? The laptop is approaching dinosaur like age.. probably about 4-5 years old now. A Gateway. Is it hard to get things like a battery for it? Any suggestions?
This is def somethin that would need to be looked at first hand. Do you know any one that has a laptop that has a similar battery? Before you go out and buy a new battery i would make sure that thats the issue first.
If this is by chance an issue with the screen that needs repairing, I wouldn't even bother. I would tansfer your data to the external HDD (if you can get that far) and buy a new one. They are dirt cheap nowadays.
