Wrong, he was the Ohio St. holder of the single-season sack record. He was widely considered a top 10 pick before the combine ever happened. What I think he is is a juicer who stopped taking the juice and didn't have any decent football moves to compensate.
Nobody is asking U to join the "lynch" party. We are all just giving our opinion of him which is exactly what this board is for
That is scary, Brings back to mind that #1 OLman pick that the GBP made who was also a juicer & went right down the sewer when he could no longer juice when in the pros
Reasonable minds can disagree, and I have to disagree with you on this. He didn't start, true. But there have been games where he has had significant playing time. For example, and I always run back to this because this is one of the few games I was at and had GREAT seats (thanks, ironically, to Mangini), the Bengals game. Gholston played just about every down in the second half and end of the first half. He left that game with ZERO tackles (so obviously, 0 sacks and 0 assists). And that was the freaking BENGALS. I watched him get stood up 3 times by Chris Freaking Perry. Yes, that's one example, but my point is, he saw the field alot. It just seems like he didn't because when he was on the field, he had about as much impact on the game as I did from the stands/my couch.
what the hell is your problem?? i wasn't condemning anybody for their lack of support of Gholston....i was merely stating my opinion on why i'm not willing to throw him under the bus yet. Isn't there a bingo game calling you, Champ?!...douche.
Williams had 35 solo tackles and 4.5 sacks. Plus 3 passes defended his rookie year. He also started all 16 games.
Agreed. First year numbers (although here I will gladly concede more playing time for Williams, but Hemi's point is still very valid): G GS Total Solo Ast Sck 16 16 47 35 12 4.5
where did I say similar in talent in year 1? where? please show me. THEY ARE BOTH CONVERTED ENDS MOVED TO OLB IN A 3-4!!!!!!!
like I said, I am scared about what he showed in year 1, but for anyone ready to say he is a cokmplete bust after 1 year, you have got to be kidding. give him a full year next year and then make declarations. Until then we can't declare this guy a bust just yet.
Where did I say that you said that? I was just adding to your comment. CALM DOWN WITH THE ALL CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No way, he gets at least one more year to prove his worth. I think Ryan may be smart enough to use this kid to his strengths, something Mangini refused or ignored to do. Mangini leaving could be the best thing of his short career...
Gholston has been huge dissapointment. When you guys comment its because of his lack of speed and strength you are way off, its the two main items that got him drafted and these he has not lost. If not for speed and strength these threads would not exist because the kid would have gone undrafted.
Gholston is a bust , the sooner some of you guys come to grip with this the better you will all sleep at night. The guy is not going to amount to anything regardless of who the coaching staff is.
