In the above article, Hutch reported that "a person of anonymity" stated that, "the Jets told Rex that they're prepared to wait until after the Super Bowl to hire him if they have to." Sounds like we're getting pretty firm with Ryan.
With Rex as a HC ...i wouldnt really have a problem with BSchott as O coordinator this year ...putting in a whole new offense could be a step back for this team. Remember everything still would go thru Rex ..and he would have no problem calling our BSchott for bad play calling ..unlike mangini did! DC needs to go though and i think Rex would bring in a great guy!
lol i didnt even read it i read the opening paragraph. cuz ive already seen the news ticker on NFL Network report it last night just provided the first official link. but yeah i dunno cbs did a crack job breaking that news lol sorry for their idiocy
they want to, the Hutchinson article sounds about right especially the part where they told him theyd "be willing to wait till after the super bowl to announce him as HC" which is what only makes sense to me. we will see though. i think hes been the main target the whole time but you have to at least turn a few more stones before jumping out the gate. which is what they did with mangini, whether he was a scapegoat or his lack of in game adjustments is truth. they chose quickly, i think theyve had theyre guy. but basically they dont want to appear as if theyre doing the same thing this time. long story short yes i think they want Rex Ryan lol.
One guy I'd like to see the Jets look at as OC is former Rams coach Scott Linehan. He didn't do well with the Rams, but he had excellent reputation at Minnesota and I believe, Miami.
I might get laughed at for the thought of it but someone who did an amazing, and I mean an amazing job as a position coach this year was Atlanta WR Coach Terry Robiskie. any nfl history buffs should know him. or you guys might know him as the father of Ohio State WR Brian Robiskie. can anyone tell me how good the Falcons WR's were before this year? exactly. granted Michael Turner made Matt Ryans job easier but if anyone has watched a Falcons game this year theyd see their WR's went from piss poor to pretty damn good. anyways, heres some bio. Playing Career Drafted in the eighth round by the Oakland Raiders, Robiskie spent five years in the NFL as a running back with the Raiders (1977-79) and the Miami Dolphins (1980-81), while playing for legendary coaches John Madden, Tom Flores and Don Shula. He was a role player, gaining only 553 yards in five seasons. Robiskie was forced to retire after only five seasons due to an injury. Coaching Career Raiders He entered the coaching profession with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1982 as the assistant running backs coach where he tutored Marcus Allen to two Pro Bowls and two 1,000-yard seasons. Robiskie was the assistant special teams coach for the Raiders from 1985-87, and he tutored the Raiders tight ends in 1988. Robiskie was the Raiders offensive coordinator from 1989-93. In 1990, Oakland ranked 9th in the NFL with 126.8 yards rushing per game and QB Jay Schroeder ranked 6th in the NFL with a 90.8 QB rating. In 1992, the Raiders ranked 11th in the NFL with 112.1 yards rushing. In 1993, Oakland ranked 5th in the NFL in passing and 13th in total offense as Robiskie helped QB Jeff Hostetler pass for 3,242 yards and 14 TDs. Robiskie?s 12 years with the Raiders included seven playoff stints, four division titles and a victory over the Redskins in Super Bowl XVIII. Redskins Robiskie spent the next seven years with the Washington Redskins as an offensive assistant coaching receivers. Robiskie began the 2000 season as passing game coordinator in Washington and helped the Redskins rank fifth in the NFC in total offense (337.3 yards per game) and passing (228.0 yards per game). He helped running back Stephen Davis total 1,318 yards and 11 touchdowns on 332 attempts, including five 100-yard outings. He concluded the 2000 season as the Redskins head coach for the final three games of the regular season following the departure of Norv Turner. Robiskie?s record as head coach was 1-2, including a 20-3 win over Arizona on December 24. Browns Robiskie joined the Browns in 2001 as wide receivers coach and held that role through 2003. In 2004 he was named offensive coordinator, but late in the season was named interim head coach replacing Butch Davis who resigned under fire. His record was 1-4 in the interim role. He interviewed as permanent head coach, but that job went to Romeo Crennel. He then openly campaigned to remain as an assistant, and was named wide receivers coach in February 2005. He was let go in January 2007. Dolphins Shortly after being fired by the Browns, Robiskie was hired as an assistant coach for the Miami Dolphins. His new assignment was the wide receivers coach. [1] Robiskie was on the same Washington Redskins staff as recently hired Dolphins coach Cam Cameron from 1994 to 1996. Atlanta Falcons On January 26, 2008 he was hired by the Atlanta Falcons to be their wide receivers coach. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Robiskie from wikipedia. point in case, im not annointing the guy but he is someone I'd be interested in sitting down with if i was showing schotty jr the door. but in most new HC cases people bring in people theyve had history with.
Anyone is better than Schotty. Any reasonable offensive coordinator would get the ball in Leon's hands at least 10 times per game. That hardly ever happened.
If Ryan comes in, than Sutton must go. Being that he would be the head coach, Rex will be able to have a say in the defense, but it's all moot if Sutton sticks around.
Since I doubt the FO insists whoever is hired as HC has to keep Schott at OC, it's really a question of who gets the HC job. If the new HC who hopefully is not Schott decides to keep him, I guess I will have to accept that. Otherwise Schott will be gone completely, of course.
