I don't know about the rest of you, but this past weekend of playoff games has basically kicked my ass... Let's face it: If the Jets could have won just a FEW MORE GAMES during the season, EVEN ONE MORE GAME at the right time? Then there's no telling how far they could have gone. So I am very depressed about "what could have been." Yes, it's good to know that we kicked Arizona's butt during the season (even though they managed to score 35 points on a defense that was supposed to be better than that)... And we beat the Titans at their high point (but look at them now!)... And we lost to the Chargers, so obviously they were better than anyone realized. Thing is? If the Jets had only won ONE MORE GAME then they might have been able to do something in this year's playoffs. Really, the parity this year makes me want to puke. Thank you Woody, for dumping that choke artist coach! How do the rest of you feel about how the Jets were THISCLOSE to getting to the promised land, especially considering the playoff picture. Are the Steelers unbeatable? Are the Ravens a joke? Let's just sa: What if? If we didn't have "Mangenius" as our coach, we might have had a coach who would have benched Favre when it was obvious to everyone that he had a bad arm. He mght have rested Kris Jenkins after it was obvious that he injured his hip. A good coach might have had some replacements for these guys. Or maybe I am blaming "Mangenius" too much? Anyhow, the Jets were SO close, that I have to ask the obvious. What if?
The playoff teams would have exposed us even if we'd made it. Favre going up against the Ravens D?! UGH... 10+ INTs and I'm not kidding. They could never bench him to the Ravens' delight.
The Jets would have been smoked by Baltimore. Rip off the band aid or pull it slowly, the pain is the same.
What this weekends games proved to me is the concept of not deserving to make the playoffs or the mentality of they'll just lose in the first round is complete nonsense. In this day of the NFL, you make the playoffs you have a shot to go to the SB.
The Jets team that beat the Titans in Week 12 would not have lost to any team, much les the Ravens. So that's a cop-out. Yes, I know that the Jets melted down at the end of their season but... Seeing how they were just one game away from the playoffs? During a year when the lower playoff seeds are kicking ass? It just kills me.
your what ifs are basically perfecting this team.....i'm with you to a point, but there is a threshold where if crossed, this point becomes moot and just a dream.
The way we were playing down the stretch any team would have smoke us but I believe had we kept playing like we did at Ten we would be playing next week w/ a great chance to get to the SB.
I am not sure why all believe baltimore would smoke us. I truly believe with our offensive lines ability to pull is the type of line that gives baltimore fits. Tennessee totally outplayed them, if Johnson does not get hurt or they just hold onto ball they win by two scores
baltimore was terrible offensively the other day. They hung the defense out to dry by leaving them on the field all day. I do not believe they will be able to score enough to beat Pitt.
The Cardinals have legit WRs and a QB who can throw the ball effectively and efficiently. Their defense is on fire right now. Big difference comparing them to the Jets.
Yes, even the Cards are playing great D now. The Jets were not, basically since the second half of the Pats' game. I would not say it was impossible for them to have turned it around, but I highly doubt the Jet D would have been playing anywhere near the level of the D of all four teams remaining. Including the Cards. That being the case, I have little doubt they would have suffered an early exit if the Jets had made the playoffs.
We earned the right NOT to make the playoffs so not one moment did I feel we belonged in the playoffs . Seeing the Giants lose makes me feel 100% better about everything. I can enjoy Championship weekend without big blue. Here's hoping the Ravens lose and seeing a Jet press confrence 10 days from now.
