    Selected coaches (first three seasons):

    Belichick- '91 6-10
    '92 7-9
    '93 7-9

    Dick Vermeil- '76 4-10
    '77 5-9
    '78 9-7

    Chuck Noll- '69 1-13
    '70 5-9
    '71 6-8

    Tom Landry- '60 0-11-1
    '61 4-9-1
    '62 5-8-1

    BUT WORST OF ALL

    Mangini- '06 10-6
    '07 4-12
    '08 9-7

I hope this comes back to bite us. We are so impatient and unknowledgeable of how things really work.

    This thread sucks....

    Can you be more negative?

Mangini in Cleveland will be no more successful than Edwards in KC

Mangini is a much better coach than Edwards and a better talent evaluator.

    Rich Kotite

    1991 10-6
    1992 11-5
    1993 8-8

When You Suck -- it does not matter about record

    Mangini Sucks

You think what we did was bad? The Lions didn't even give Rod Marinelli a 3rd year! Talk about knee jerk reactions!

EDIT: Yes they did. I'm an idiot. But you get my point.

they shouldnt have because that guy literally didnt win, Mangini had two winning seasons in three years...something the Lions would kill for.

the difference between them and mangini is that mangini was 8-3 and ended the season 9-7 when it really should of been 8-8

Yes, but he had considerably less talent. You can't judge coaches by their records exclusively; you have to look at everything they do in context. Your entire case for keeping Mangini hinges on the records of teams from up to 50 years ago. I choose to exercise logic, and common sense and stuff. So agree to disagree.

    No, it's not, it's stupid.

I could handpick any number of coaches and show you their early records. I could show you bad coaches with good starts, good coaches with bad starts, and everything in between. None of them show anything.

    Here's one, for instance.

    Rich Kotite
    '91: 10-6
    '92: 11-5
    '93: 8-8

    Here's another.

    Herman Edwards
    '01: 10-6
    '02: 9-7
    '03: 6-10

    And another.

    Dave Wannstedt

    '93: 7-9
    '94: 9-7
    '95: 9-7

    What does it all mean?

    NOTHING

Besides, the coaches you named all made steady improvement in those three years record-wise. While I did like Mangini, there was no such progress.

Its like I said with Chad, still good but it was time to go. It was time for Mangini to go. Maybe he will be successful elsewhere, but I doubt he would have here.

mangini will get Ryan as his DC in Cleveland. That team will do well for what is considered good in cleveland with those two.

Mangini literally put the Jets back on the radar his first year. That team had no talent (I mean really) and he created a 10-6 team.

    Agreed!

Any long time Jets fan would never wish more pain of losing seasons.

30+ years as a true fan here and I still have hope!
