Whatever we do we should not have a QB competition. I would give the ball to Clemens and work Ratliff as the No. 2. You make your bed with Clemens until he shits it than you go with Ratliff. Neither one of these guys can afford to split the reps. The other alternative is the draft and depending who is available we probably have to make a major trade to move up.
He was better than Pennington with the same team, Pennington just took the Fish to 11 and 5. I wouldn't put much stock on the 5 games in 07. He was thrown into the fire without water and oxygen. Lets see what he can do with a decent OL and running game.
Clemens was the starter for 3 of our 4 wins last season and the Baltimore game. He did alright considering what he had to work with.
Good point. Clemens moved the team against the Ravens last year, with the 4-12 Jets, far better than Chad did this past Sunday. Hey I get that Clemens did not do great last year, but he did not shit the bed. Saying he did is not accurate.
He obvioulsy impressed no one but you. Pennington was beating him out in 2008 training camp and they then brought in Favre. So basically the coaching staff had zero faith in the Clemens project. Who did he beat and what were his stats?
Win now team needs a win now QB The problem here is that we are a win now team and we need a win now QB. We have spent way too mcuh money to give the ball to any QB on our roster ( and I hate to say this) other than Farve....If farve is not on the team next year and hopefully he will tell us early enough to allow us to get a decent QB in FA, I do not think that Clemens or Ratliff is the answer with the current personnel.
The staff was fired and frankly if Clemens doesn't get a real shot that is a huge indictment of Tannenbaum.
What is the source for saying Chad had beaten Clemens out? I thought it was pretty clear that no one was clearly ahead. That was a factor in why they got Favre.
There was no real source, but every day in camp the Clemens INT total climbed. And in retrospect, after seeing our secondary this season, that is scary.
It's kind of bizarre (and it probably says something about the alternate reality zone that is theganggreen.com's discussion board) that, in order to cut the list down to the limist of 10, that you left sanchez and volek and tebow, while dropping someone like Jon Kitna (who is probably going to be the most proven QB that will be available this offseason). Huh. The unknown it seems is alwasy valued much more highly than the known here. Go Ratliff, Sanchez, and Tebow!
You got it. That explains the love for Clemens. You should have seen how bad it was here before he actually played and looked mediocre.
Chad could beat Peyton Manning in the Red Shirt no contact know the playbook look good competition of Training camp so that is not really saying much. Once upon a time a vet named Vinny beat out Chad as well. How you perform in games against other teams is what matters,
