No point in harassing the guy 12 years after the fact. Let him be. He worked hard, didn't leave anything on the field...
I want to know what was going through the heads of the writer at Newsday when he thought, "Hmmmmm, I wonder what Rich Kotite would think about all of this..." This was probably the weirdest article I've read- I had shivers down by back reading this for some reason. It's just bizarre
I'm amazed that he lives in the tristate area and didn't change his name. I feel kind of bad for him because I'm sure he gets looks from people now and then. Doing something as high profile as coaching a local team and totally screwing it up must really suck after the fact. What could he talk about with fans that recognized him and decided to come up and talk to him? "Yeah, I was Jet's coach, same old Jets..."
my question is what was he going to interview him about? what was really the point to calling the guy? i kinda feel bad for the guy now, not at the time i sure as hell didnt i would rather have seen him have one of those crazy chinese tortures done to him on top of the empire state building, but i guess time heals things and now i feel kinda bad for the poor sucky coach bastard.
I'm with you man...wtf were they thinking. It's like a humiliating kick in the crotch. I guess the reporter's dog ate his homework and this was plan V.
Makes perfect sense. Fire a guy on a five-game losing streak to hire a guy on an eight-game losing streak.
