How can you not want this guy in a Jets Uniform next year... he is tearing up Texas U right now.. the guy has got all the intangibles to make him a prime time every down back for us... His height his speed his power his ability to see a whole open up.... Man if we got a shot at him in the draft and pass were fools... he is playing in an nfl environment right now and performing to his best and not folding under pressure under the big lights...
Because RB is one of the few strengths of our team right now. A DE, Safety, WR, or even a QB if Bradford or Stafford fell to us would make much more sense.
We havent hit a homerun first round player in a long time somebody who had immediate impact upon arrival.. Wells without a doubt in my mind will do that.. All the other players are chances... if you look back on most of the drafts in the 2000 era theres been nothing but bums no big names and if there whas a big name it was only a handful each and every years draft.. Lets get a star player somebody who moves chains..
Beanie is a tough runner, very physical. If he becomes a Jet, which is doubtful, he's not wearing #28. I expect the Jets to retire that number in a few years.
Revis? Mangold? I love Wells, but he will be gone long before we pick and even if he's not I doubt we look at RB this year with the season Jones just had and with Leon as the backup.
Those guys are very good players but in the 2000's in general we just landed revis and mangold but prior we always selected bums... Jones is only gonna be around for a few more years and just think of this.. Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw = Wells/Jones/Washington... when you can run the ball you can control the clock and predict the outcome of the game.... Possesion of the ball wins the game majority of the time.. we were going to have chatman right before he got in trouble?? dump chatman bring in wells and its a guarantee we run deep into the playoffs...next year of course
So your saying if we draft wells we are guaranteed a run deep into the playoffs? Even though we have no coach or qb?
wells looked good but my money is on mccoy in 2010. laurinitis looked decent as well. will be a good ILB in a 3-4 or WLB in 4-3. similar to hawk but better, IMO. jil
I am personally not a fan of Wells. He is constantly hurt and the way he sat out the rest of the Fiesta Bowl shows a lack of heart. Plus, for how much he weighs, he should not be running out of bounds the way that he does. I'll take a pass. His attitude reminds me too much of John Abraham when he was here. Sitting out because he's too afraid of the future.
i couldnt help but notice that too and was like dam... you sitting on the bench when you team needs you most.. the back up did a good job but you the man.. and they say he suffered a concussion i could remember a few games when i played HS Ball and i had a concussion and still was in there playing sometimes you got to gut it up.. so i hear what you saying on that one...
You named the only two QBs I would want us to get in this draft. I would trade up for either. We might qualify for Colt McCoy next year if we have as bad a season as we might without any QB this year though.
that, and Wells is made of glass. I would not draft him on the first day. We need our 1st rounder to make an immediate impact and a lasting impact unlike Vernon this year, unless that player is a fallen QB in the 1st like Bradford or Stafford. Taking a RB with our 1st when we already have a strong backfield and much greater needs, not to mention a RB with major durability concerns in my book, would be a big mistake. I would move up for Stafford in this draft if we had to, but I think he could be there at #17 only if Bradford declares. It seems to me that the only team that will take a QB in the 1st round is the Lions. The Chiefs have Thigpen who came on strong and Croyle and Herm will want to take an immediate impact player, likely defensive, in order to keep his job. If Singletary retains the 49ers job, his guy is Shaun Hill and they still have monumental bust Alex Smith. Then none of the other teams need a QB until the Jets at 17. If the Sooners win, Bradford declares and likely goes #1, and Stafford falls to the Jets at #17.
I like both of those guys but I really don't want us trading up for a QB this year unless it's really cheap. We should at least give Clemens another shot with a real NFL offensive line and attempt to see if we have something in Ratliff before going out of our way to get another young QB. In the event that neither guy is the man for the job, we will likely be in a position to get McCoy next year (who I think is a better pro prospect than Stafford and is not as raw as Bradford).
