It's obvious that this Job was his and Woody fuked up BIG TIME.

Refusing to allow a coach to do anything with Favre? that's a joke!

It's clear he forced Mangini's hand with Favre
    had a Pro-Favre press confrence
then continues to sell Favre to all coaching prospects.

    Horrible!

its clear that the reason woody wants favre back is all those number 4 jersey dollars that he's still counting. Unfortunately for woody, if the person wearing the number SUCKS!! on the field, sales will nose dive and fans will leave. The fans would need to send woody a strong message, if favre is a Jet, they won't buy the tickets..... or his sorry number 4.

All it would take is for him to win the first game of the 09 season for everybody to love him again...

Don't believe anything you hear or read. We have no idea what is actually going on. These guys all bluff and play games and say they aren't interested when they are etc. the owners do the same things by going out and interviewing a bunch of people they aren't that interested in. Its a game of negotiation, leverage and money where each side is simply trying to get the best deal they can. Ultimately Woody is going to have to get involved here.

Anyone with their eyes open can see what happened especially during the PC.

If you can't see it take the Farvgina glasses off...They kinda cloud the eyes.

I think Cowher was interested but only if he could have complete control - either as a HC/GM or with his own guy as GM. When Woody wouldn't discuss that option with Cowher (by being conveniently "out of the country"), the power play was made by the Jets. Woody confirmed Tannenbaum was staying and Cowher would have to answer to him. I'll guess that turned off Cowher more than anything else.

The Denver job is at least as attractive as working for the Jets and Cowher isn't pursuing that one. No reason to believe that either Flaccid or BF drove away Cowher.

which brings to FOUR, the total number of reasons he isn't coming here.

First he didn't want to be saddled with Favre...

second, He wanted his own GM.

Third, Woody wouldn't do a sit down.

Now, He's back to his original no 2009.

I think he's full of shit.

Even when Tanneubaum was willing to shed power for Cowher?

This makes Cowher look a bit selfish if true

True. Cowher looks like an idiot, but that entire panel should be fired, they all pretty much blow.

BTW all that Cowher actually said with his carefully chosen words was that he didn't "plan on becoming a head coach in 2009" He didn't say "I will not be an NFL head coach in 2009". His "plan" can change tomorrow. Essentially he has an out - it means if he gets a good offer his plan will change and that he could still very well coach in 2009. This thing isn't over folks.

Or I can just lap up all the BS excuses coming out of Cowhers mouth and runaround every thread like a rabid dog because I have absolutely no clue about the hiring process........ hmmmmmmm decisions.

But then there was the press conference where they showed a little class and said nothing bad about anyone. Yeah makes you really wonder about them not throwing anyone under the bus, real scumbags those two.

Funny and curious why Cowher was given top billing on the pre-game show to give us a vanilla answer and a lame joke about the Superbowl.

If he had any balls, he would have stated his clear intention, whatever it really is. This coming from someone who wanted him here. He came off as a tool today.

Finally, a post in this thread that makes some sense.

Look, if you are Bill Cowher and you're already making mucho millions for sitting on your butt and talking football for a few hours a week for half a year... Why the heck would you want to go coach again if you aren't sure that you have the owner's ear? When Woody Johnson was unavailable to Cowher it sent a very clear signal: IF you take this job, to me you are just another employee. So please deal with my manager, who will ultimately be your boss.

When you can write your own ticket, you don't put up with this kind of bullspit.
