they should've picked a defensive player this year, but writers get paid to choose a name that will sell newspapers.

i'm actually surprised peter king didn't pick Tom Brady.

Crennel was on that staff as well. I ask again. Why is it that the great Belichick has only won one time against Manning since Crennel left?

Belichick was on all the staffs that Romeo had success against Manning as well. How has Romeo done as a HC? How did Romeo do as a DC w/ Belichick by his side?

In 2005 when the Colts started off 13-0 Manning only put up 13 points against the Browns when they averaged 27 per game for the season. In the same year against the Pats he put up 40 against Belichicks defense.

Belichick as Defensive Coordinator w/ Romeo Crennel on his staff

    in 4 games - average pts per game = 14.75 - record 1-3

Belichick as Head Coach w/ Romeo Crennel as his Defensive Coordinator

    in 6 games - average pts per game = 17.5 - record 6-0

Belichick as Head Coacho w/o Romeo Crennel as his Defensive Coordinator

    in 6 games - average pts per game = 28.5 - record 2-4

Crennel as Head Coach w/o Belichick

    in 2 games - average pts per game = 11.5 - record 0-2

The week before Indy scored 13 pts against Cle they scored 10 against Jax- does Romeo get credit for that too?

No, Jacksonville's defense does. That defense gave up an average of 16.8 pts per game (6th in the NFL).

They gave up more points to the Jets the following week when Chad had was playing w/ a torn rotator cuff.

The facts suppoort your argument here but I think it's purely coincidental. I think Romeo is not nearly as good a defensive coach as many believe he is. i think he lived off of Belichchick for years, he never had any success(except against Manning and the Colts) w/o Belichick or Parcells.

I don't know if you watched that Jax / Indy game, but that game was a very physical one. Jacksonville's defense played an amazing game.

That's what we are discussing - Crennel's success against Peyton Manning and why Manning and the Colts were only able to put up 10 points against Cleveland this year.

The rest of Crennel's Head Coaching career definitely can be measured as a failure, but that wasn't what we were debating.

    That's being especially cynical.
