Actually, he is. 890 on his SATs.. Thats about as dumb as you get. The only thing dumber than Tim Tebow, is this thread. And yes, I realize he is football "smart," just throwing the above out there.
I don't think they're super comparable, but everyone saying Tebow is a guaranteed NFL failure haven't even watched him play this year. Probably still thinking about all those rushing touchdowns he had last year *roll eyes*.
That really has no relevance, research has even proved that the wonderlic test and future success doesn't correlate, so even if you get a bad score on that it doesn't mean you wont be successful . What does is the fact that he has performed at the elite level every year he has been in college, and the fact that he makes good decisions, which is evident by his lack of fumbling and not throwing interceptions, he recognizes defensive formations and knows to react to them and which throws are safe or dangerous. I don't want a QB to be able to insert the correct word into a sentence, i want him to read a defense and be able to distinguish between a good option and a bad option, something Tebow can do.
"You could be a moron"? "This could = the worst thread ever made"? It's possible to disagree without being an asshole about it. At least the guy gives his reasons, he isn't just making a statement and not offering anything to back it up. Disagree if you want, but you don't have to be a prat about it.
Exactly. Brees was a beast, but he was a short beast. Tebow has shitty footwork, shitty mechanics, throws an inconsistent spiral, his running skill doesn't even translate well to the NFL from the QB position... He's talented yea. But the guy is a major, major project. If we got him say like...Day 2 then sure. Even then theres so many guys you wouldn't have to completely overhaul while listening to his hype train the whole time...why bother?
Tebow really doesn't care that much about football or the NFL. It would probably be a mistake for any team to get him. He could retire and join the ministry after a year and that assumes he even comes out this year which is doubtful.
Only because he constantly says that is his goal in life, to become part of the ministry. He spends his summers in Africa innoculating the poor. He comes from a family of ministers, I believe. That is what he really loves. Hmm..just googled it, it was actually that he spends his summers in the Phillipines circulsizing poor phillipine boys. http://bumpshack.com/2008/05/06/tim-tebow-circumsizes-poor-filipino-boys/ Anyway, you get the point. That is where his heart is.
What better way to help than by succeeding in the NFL though? the money he earns over his career will be very useful in helping people less fortunate. Also he can still do all that over the summer, as long as he conditions.
Tim Tebow is close personal friends with Mister Jesus – he talks about him all the time. That has to help - Since Jesus Hates The Jets (JHTJ is right) maybe we should bring him here and he could at least get some positive talks going between Jesus and the Jets? It would be worth a first of second to get back in with Jesus
I just think that is one reason he is projected to go in the 2nd or 3rd round. People don't know what to expect.
Yer you might well be right, if he dropped to us in the 3rd round and we didn't take him i would be pretty pissed lol I don't expect him to though
Worst comparison I've ever seen. They're not even similar off the field. Tim Tebow does missionary work, and Drew Brees hates poor people.
Tebow gave an interview a year ago, and said during that interview that he does NOT intend on entering the NFL. He wants to go be a missionary with his parents in other countries. Anyway, I wouldn't read too much into it, I know people like to change their minds. But he sounded pretty convincing.
The only similarity is that they ran a spread offense while in college and they were mobile, everything else is backwards Tebow is better with long passes while Brees was better in short/medium passes, Brees generally had good mechanics while Tebow doesn't. Tebow has the prototypical size for a QB while Brees was too short. Personally I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, his biggest strength in college was as a powerback that could throw good. In the NFL at best he throws average and could get hurt trying to run in the NFL.
They are NOTHING alike as far as football / physical aspects / game styles are concerned. Their drive and work ethic are similar though. I live in GATOR country......Several friends are alumni, and they OWN the local sports media . If Tebow declares (doubt he will. I know his cousin and he thinks he's staying in school) the JAGS would be stupid not to draft him (even with Garrard) as it would ensure a sold out stadium during his tenure. If I was to compare his game to a current NFL QB, McNabb comes to mind. Big guy, ability to scramble to make throws, yet RAW entering the league. His mechanics& release aren't as good, and that's his main flaw. Also his desire to try and run over Linebackers needs to be squashed for him to have a shot at the NFL. Right now he's a run 1st guy, but this season, Ive seen progression to become a passer, now that they've had Percy Harvin to run the ball some. Watching him in the SEC championship game vs Alabama was the 1st time I really thought he had a shot to be an NFL QB. He made some nice reads/throws in that game. Given where the JETS draft he could be worth a gamble, but that's what he is a gamble. I'd rather gamble on a QB @ 17 than a hybrid LB @ #6 hmy: He'd have to ride the pine for a season or 2, but he'd be better off staying in school for another season. I wouldn't be mad if they made that pick.
from what i remember seeing, although purdue does run a spread offense much of the time, a lot of drew brees' success in college came when they'd run the pro set, iirc.
