So I'm having an argument with a friend. Was Favre's last pick on the ball intended for Stuckey tipped by Stuckey or not touched by him at all?
What makes a ball catchable? I would think when your making millions of dollar to CATCH THE BALL and that is your job description you make an effort to catch it and not say screw it because it didn't hit you directly in the numbers. I'll not argue Favre's bad throws down the stretch but i didn't see alot of hustle and effort from the recievers down the stretch either. Alot of favre's "uncatchable" balls were catchable. I've seen Rice, Sanders, Driver, Jennings, Rison, Freeman, hell even Art Monk catch some of those balls no problem. They made an effort and didn't start jogging halfway through their route ala` Coles because they thought they might have to make a play for their own ball. Favre threw some retard balls. I'll still never figure out that lob, that looked like a hail mary but went all of 6 yards. But i've seen alot of those "uncatchable" balls caught by other recievers. And yes even into double coverage because they made a play for their own ball and pulled it in like they owned it.
I love all the Favreheads protecting the guy like if he actually did something for us. The pass was UNCATCHABLE because he was 3 yds away and threw a fukin missle. Stop defending this guy, he isn't/wasn't worth it.
Brett was good for the team. Find something else to blame the season on. Maybe the defense shouldn't have forgotten how to stop the run. Maybe Mangini should learn how to call plays. Maybe Revis, Rhodes, Elam and Law should rediscover the art of Pass Defense. Maybe the defense should learn how to apply pressure. Maybe the recievers should make some f'n plays rather then catch the ball and fall. Let's quit pointing fingers. It isn't solving anything. Brett may not be what he used to be, but he is DEFFINETLY....DEFFINETLY the best option for us right now. Let it go.
It's really funny how you bash him, and don't recognize any other faults on this team. Go through your own posts this year man. You constantly bitched ALL SEASON LONG about: Prevent defense, bad playcalling, no pass rush, recievers not catching balls (including coles), and on and on. The one thing you didn't bitch about until week 13 or 14 was Favre. So you bitched all year about the same things i've been saying, and now your flipping it around. How did the complaints you had all year magically disappear? You act as if you've been praising the whole team minus favre all year and complaining about him, when actually it's the other way around.
This play confused the hell out of me cuz I thought the Jets were going to call a T.O. and when you look back at the play Coles doesn't move at all.
Playcalling? yup, Prevent D? Yup but Find 1 post where I complained about receivers not catching especially Coles. I've been one defending Coles M'Fer on this site so you must have me confused or just talking ying yang from the bung. I ain't flippin' shit around and I call a spade a spade. See my D'Brick threads, or you can go back even further than this season to show my dislike for Favre. Search is your friend. ... and even for that matter He wasn't costing us games early but he did later in the season and choked away everything the team worked for. SINGLE HANDEDLY! Don't get it twisted.
I still find you completely one sided on the downfall of the team this season, compared to the complaints you had during the season. But, i'm man enough to say that I was wrong. I had read some of your posts wrong and thought it said Coles, when it actually said Cotchery. And you did indeed stick up for Coles during the season and give him due props. I still feel the way I feel about your views on the matter, but I made a mistake, and I openly admit it.
Favre's last interception was not tipped at all. Joey Porter was in front of the receiver and Favre shot off an ill advised missile that went straight into Andre Goodman's hands. Horrible throw.
I'm not sure it really matters at this point. There's nothing distinguishable about his last pick from the other 2 when you think about it.
