I wonder what the Jets would do if Knowshon Moreno was available at #17. There are more pressing needs than RB, but this would make sense for a number of reasons:

    - Moreno would be a steal at 17.
    - We have to acquire a RB anyway, so why not go for the best one?
    - TJ was awesome last season, but there's no way he matches the numbers he posted in 08. He'll be 31 next season, so we need a successor anyway. RB would be settled for the next 5-6 years.
    - The 3-headed monster worked out pretty well for the G-men and the Ravens, don't you think? TJ, Leon and Moreno would be a deadly combination.
    - Having a strong Running Game will be crucial, considering that we will most likely have an unexperienced QB under center. Just ask Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco.

As i said, ILB or DB would make more sense from a needs perspective, but can you pass on a talent like Moreno that late in the draft?

If this rookie class proved anything it's that you can get a starting running back anywhere in the draft.

It's not like Moreno is an Adrian Peterson or even a Darren McFadden type prospect.

Moreno isn't an Adrian Peterson, but he has the ability to be better than McFadden in the pros.

Knowshon Moreno was great as a freshman in the toughest conference in college football. He's only knock is, he might not be able to add that much more weight. The kid is a perfectly balanced running back - powerful, shifty, breakaway ability - he's the real deal.

for me it will depend on our new coach as of now, Spagnola willw ant his 4-3 back, which I am fine with, I think Spikes would be awesome, we do not some coerage linebackers right now we have rushers and eaters, but zero coverage skill, personally I cannot stand Harris but hopefully that will change and maybe that injury was more severe because he made Barton look fast.

I hope the coaching gets sorted out quick to see what direction we need to go with our draft

How can you say that Knowshon Moreno isn't "that" good? He was the best running back in the SEC, which many people consider to be the best conference in college football.

If Moreno can get up to 210-215, he'll be a dominant, feature back in the NFL.

I'd be higher on Maualuga if we didn't already have Davis Harris. Harris already has the strength and size to take on guards plus he's faster. Bringing in Maualuga would be ignoring the gaping hole in our coverage over the middle and I don't think we can afford to make that mistake which is why a player like Brandon Spikes or even Scott McKillop or Brian Cushing might be a better pickup than Maualuga for this team McKillop, provided he declares early, is a little more athletic and Cushing would be a better value for depth behind Harris.

McKillop is a senior. He's going to be a nice player. He's one of my favorite players in the Big East...excellent leader, we can count on him to learn the D, and he's a solid all around player.

I'd love to pick that guy up, especially if it came Day 2.

I like McCoy better than Moreno, but you wouldn't see me crying if we got him.

I know Cowher is out of the picture for the Jets. But I was thinking yesterday, if Cowher ended up being the Jet Coach.....Taylor Mays would be someone he would consider. Cowher had a dam good USC safety with the Steelers.

Who knows, Rex Ryan certainly would love a Safety like Mays also. Taylor Mays should declare, might not even make it to #17. Not many big men, like Mays, run 4.3 and hit the snot out of you. Some may feel the Mays is too big for Safety and could play OLB in a 4-3.

Rhodes, Mays & Revis....would be 3/4s of an awesome, potential ProBowl secondary.

I agree. Crabtree is a freak. He's the Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson type reciever. Big, physical, fast and hands like no other. That catch against Texas gave me wood. Seriously.

Hands like no other? Crabtree is more comparible to Brandon Marshall...right now.

They both drop a lot of "easy" balls.

Crabtree has the potential to be great though.

Dez Bryant is the next big time NFL wideout though...too bad he won't be draftable til 2010.

I agree, I love Moreno. This is not Reggie Bush, small but hits HARD. The only problem is that we already don't use Leon enough and there is only one ball. It might be different with a new coach, but who knows? In the second round I love the reciever out of Rutgers, he is a legit deep threat. First round, I'd love a corner or safety, but looking at this draft its weakness in the first 2 rounds appears the be 3-4 DE. We needed one last year, and we still need one. Tyson Jackson LSU might fit the bill. Its waay too early because we still don't know who is coming out.

Well my thought is this, I want a kick ass break their backs safety. We need help opposite Rhodes. is Mays the big time Safety prospect then? if so, thats the guy I want.

I expect lowery to come back much stronger this year, i love this kid and as a 4th round rookie, he had lots of bright spots. I don't want a WR in round 1 this year, I would much rather stand with what we have for a year, and go up and get Dez Bryant next year. Coles and Cotch are very good when utilized properly. Keller has been great. Also Stuckey deserves a bigger role he earned it, and we also have brad smith Clowney and Wallace Wright behind him on the chart. plus we have a 6-4 Marcus Henry on the PS the guy will make a good #4 i believe and he has more than ideal height to help when we need it.

The other position we currently need is a coverage ILB, or potentially an OLB depending on scheme change and or the dismissal of Bryan Thomas. Dont give me gholston as a replacement either. We could draft an OLB to rotate with Pace and Gholston, no need to defend Gholston or tear him apart.

To get a quality DB would be great, but i think there will be enough talent in the second or even third round to find a starter material CB or Safety. There are only 4 DBs i would pick at 17: Taylor Mays, William Moore, Malcolm Jenkins or Vontae Davis. If they're gone by the time we're on the clock, i would be perfectly fine with a guy like Alphonso Smith or Nic Harris in the second round.

Willy Moore, is the guy you want. Hes had a below average senior season, and a bad bowl game. But hes still a player. I see a little of Dawkins in him.

if the guy has been average all year why do I want him on the jets? I want guys who excell and maybe are overlooked due to their potential lack of physical attributes, in other words I want football players.

I guess I might have been to literal before. By break their backs, i didnt mean just a straight up hard hitter. I was thinking more along the lines of a play maker who breaks the other teams backs that way, just wreaking havoc back there. If he can knock a few helmets too, all the better.

I would really like the Jets to pick Maclin. He is a very explosive player, can help out on special teams and can spread out defenses.

He had an average season, it happens. He was hindered by injuries all season. Coming into this year he was considered a top 10 pick. You say you want a football player, Moore can do it all. Hes big, fast, tackles, a ball hawk, and can hit like a truck.

You shouldnt just want him on the Jets, you should feel lucky if hes at our spot.
