I think the reason being everyone needs to pin the downfall of the season on someone. Some open minded people are actually able to accept that there were problems on playcalling (hello shotgun on 3rd and1), defense, offense, not giving TJ the ball more, Zero and i mean ZERO pass rush, the inability to keep the pocket from collapsing in 1 1/16th of a second. But most people need a fall guy. Everyone cried for Mangini's head, and once he got fired half the people were like "come back Eric we miss you, we have wronged you". What? You just posted three days ago if Mangini wasn't fired you were going to kill yourself/become a giants fan/move to the Congo etc.... Now that he's gone, your posting that you want him back???? Okay then. And really the easiest person to blame is Favre. Most people on this board never really saw Favre as the QB of this franchise. He was just some guy who apparently got lost on his way to Lambeau. He wasn't THEIR QB, he wasn't even really a JET, he just wore the uniform and showed up and nobody had the heart to tell him he was at the wrong stadium. Fall guy. They hated him when we were 1-2, they loved him when we were 8-3, and they hated him again when the season fell to crap. Did he make poor decisions? Yes. Was some of that due to (coaching, offense, defense, poor protection, and i'm sorry for swearing but just out and out HALF-ASSING your tackling, pass rush, your man to man coverage, actually attempting to catch the ball even if it didn't hit you square in the numbers. etc...) Yes. I'm not saying Favre had a good year but take off your damn blinders. When the secondary is standing there(and i honestly mean standing there), watching the pass come in, and they make no effort to intercept/block the pass, i think there is more than one guy to blame.
They need a new head coach ASAP. Losing Cowher is starting to worry me. The owner and management might be added to my list soon. haha.
Of course we can pass blame out to many such as the people you mentioned. But the bottom line is that the head coach and QB were # 1 and # 2 to blame. Either both should have stayed and be allowed a chance to bring the Jets to the next level or both should be gone.
