Hmmm still nothing from JoeJet o well at least he has all that stockmarket money to keep him happy while he's on his yacht bitching about the Mets.
If we do get Cowher, I hope he does me a favor and not announce it till sometime tomorrow afternoon. I'm not pulling another "Jets get Favre!" all nighter again.
Penalty in 2003 for not interviewing a minority canidate for the Lions Head Coach Position. Back then no black candidate would interview knowing Mariucci was going to be hired anyway. PRO FOOTBALL; Lions Fined Over Minority Hiring July 26, 2003 The Detroit Lions' president, Matt Millen, was fined $200,000 by the National Football League today for not interviewing any minority candidates before hiring Steve Mariucci as coach.
didnt know if it was posted but its being reported by espn that Cowher is interested and the Jets are willing to give him GM control.
Hehe. . . .TGG's cub reporter filing his story. All of which, by the by, was reported or speculated at 3:00 this afternoon. This is the problem with living on a 250 foot yacht. You never get the right story from your purser.
I heard Romeo Crennel or some other minority coach speak about this a few years back, and it struck me as reasonable. He (whoever) said that they KNOW that some of these interviews are a sham, but for every sham interview, they gather another round of experience that they can use in the NEXT round of interviews. Plus, minority candidates even as a token forces advancement of minorities. This may surprise a few folks who tenant the BS Forum, but I don't have a single problem with the Rooney Rule. It's a privately negotiated contractual provision between 32 partners, that should, in theory, expand the market. We wouldn't be talking about a guy like Turner Gill unless the Rule demanded it. That's not a bad thing, per se. I'd have a bigger problem if Congress had stepped in and mandated this. So, find a qualified minority candidate and interview them, even if it's a sham, and then hire whoever you think best helps your franchise. Nothing wrong with that.
Jets Confidential is reporting Jets Confidential is reporting that a close friend of Cowher said that it is all BS about him wanting to come here and that his daughter actually graduated from Princeton and is working in NY and he sees her every weekend when he comes up for the CBS assignment. If we get stuck with Marty and Brian this is going to be ugly guys. If that is the case and not Cowher, Rex Ryan or Spagnolla, we would have been better off with Mangini and Crennel for a year to see what they could do. For the first time Sunday Mangini showed emotion and you could see him getting pissed at those stupid passes by Farve. Farve brought this team and this coach down and we might have been a step away and threw it out the window because Woody caved to Farve.
Big Surprise...The crypt keeper thinks Cowher is a PERFECT fit for Denver........now, i know absolutely jack shit about sports journalism...but after reading this, I'm thinking i could write for ESPN. Where does this clown come up with this shit. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=3800871
