ESPN just reported that Bill Cowher will listen to the Jets about their head coaching position. It was mentioned during halftime of the Rutgers bowl game. Discuss.
after hearing woody talk this morning i thought he had already been talking to cowher for a little bit. he said the decision had been coming for awhile. he went on to say the dearch for a new coach would be very quick. that leads me to believe he had a plan already.
Wow. That's pretty telling considering he already gave Cleveland a flat-out NO, and Detroit hasn't reported discussing with him.
Just to add some fuel to the speculative fire, have you ever watched the pre-game shows? Cowher loves Leon.
Lightbulb-Head Clayton has been crowing all week that the Jets are the only realistic destination for Cowher in '09 if he coaches at all.
Billionaires usually don't act until they know they pretty much know the results. This signing could take place quickly.
yeah i've seen him a few times he seems to like a few of the guys on the jets. i forget which week it was but as he was talking about the jets i couldn't help but fee like he wanted to be coaching the team. maybe thats me being a jets homer i dont know. i try to keep objective about stuff like that, it was just the way he was talking about the team that made it seem like he would be interested in coaching these guys.
i've got a boner! thats great news. a proven winner that runs the 3-4. i hope woody does the right thing here.
The start of heading down a bad road; Cowher may accept the Jets' truckload of cash but I strongly doubt that he has the resolve and passion left to make a longterm commitment to this team with all the extra-curriculars he's going to have to face. We need someone who will be around for more than 2 or 3 years, and I'm not certain that Cowher is that guy. Furthermore, his record in big games is not exactly awe inspiring. Yes he is a Super Bowl champion, but he achieved that only after failing repeatedly with some of the most talented teams in football. Failing enough times that he probably wouldn't have kept his job under any of the other owners in the league. Cowher is a good coach...I'm just not sure he's the right hire for this team.
I'm pretty sure I read he told the Lions no as well. Who in their right mind would go to Detroit? That would be dreadful.
I have to see it to believe it. But i didn't think Brett Favre would land here so why not...hope it ends better
