I really hope we retain Mike Westhoff, at least in the capacity of Special Teams coordinator.

I know Westy was given a cursory interview for HC 3 years ago, but does anybody know if that was anything more than a formality?

Westhoff did have HC aspirations at one time. I'm not sure if he still does, but his name was mentioned as one possibility by Francessa this afternoon.

I highly doubt Tannenbaum wants to can Westhoff. The guy is too good at what he does.

Our STs were actually kinda dissapointing in this 2nd half of the season... but then again, what part of our team wasn't?.. hmmm.....

Good point, but I still think Westhoff is an elite coach. The Leon KR in SF that was called back totally changes the complexion of that game if we don't get hosed by the refs.

Wallace Wright has developed into a stud coverage guy. We need to bring in a punter though. Hopefully Nugent is done. Feely has proven he can make clutch kicks.

    Fire.

    Him.

    Now.

Westhoff has ridden the coattails of Leon Washington and Justin Miller long enough. Our kicking game sucked. Our blocking was average at its best. How many times were we penalized on ST this year?

I was formerly a Westhoff fan, but forget it. He's just another part of the problem. Clean house. Everyone goes.

Any thread wanting Westhoff as HC is ridiculous and borderline retarded. Special teams have been crap this year. ST has been really disappointing and has cost the Jets games. (New England and Oakland come to mind). Not too mention the blocked kicks, the fake punts by the opposition, poor field position etc etc..

If Mangini, Sutton and Schott get no quarter, than fair is fair and Westhoff should get treated similarly. His coaching this year was putrid, plain and simple.

One other thing that bothers me about him as well:

It has been how long since the Jets have had a good punter?
