How about our supposed playmakers disappearing. How about Favre playing like he just learned what football was? How about a total lack of effort coming from our LBs corps in coverage. Things like that. You got a better reason?
Baker is history--I don't recall the details but either the jets have to sign him for some way overpriced value or they must cut him. And I think it has to happen sooner than later. I'd like to see Thomas gone. I don't see him as a consistently decent player in either a 3-4 or 4-3. He started off strong this season and was gone by midseason except for maybe one play each half. He was collecting his paycheck.
#1-Coles: Too many drops, waaay too whiny. I seriously dislike him #2-Eric Smith- Why is he still in the NFL? #3 Ty Law-Unless we can use a time machine to get the Ty Law of 6 years ago.
Barton is solid when he isn't in coverage; if we used him right he could be a beast. The issues with Coles are way overblown and Baker is an excellent complement to Keller. We cut or trade him, then we would have Keller, Franks, and Dearth, and Franks is worthless, which means we'd need to find another TE. He doesn't need to be replaced.
If Barton is going to start then he has to cover. If he's going to continue with this contract, then he has to start. Since he cannot cover, he has to go. The only other options are Barton's coverage ability improving (not happening at the age of 31) or renegotiating his contract. He wouldn't be bad as back-up but I doubt we miss him much if he goes. He's decent against the run but we have enough guys to get at the run and he's not a good enough blitzing LB to warrant putting him in there on blitzing downs.

Did anyone not see Chad hit Barton right in the numbers in the first half and he couldn't make the catch? I agree he sould be out.
I say yes. I can't see NE franchising him, wouldn't that be like $14 million 1 year contract for a backup? I don't see them carrying both net year. I am sure Cassel gets some big contract offers.
Favre needs to go. Baker should and will go. His contract has a cut clause that the Jets will execute. Bubba Franks is done.
