Hey, at least he REALIZES that he personally has to do a better job. Wish Mangini would say something like that. At least then we would know that he feels he hasn't done a good job.
"I have to coach better." ??????????? You're SUPPOSED to be able to coach. What the hell is he even doing on the team?
are you kidding me? it's the last week of the season...and he realizes NOW he has to do a better job. this entire coaching staff (minus Westhoff) is in over their heads.
"He realizes he has to call better plays"? Precisely how is he to do this? Is it that he has the capacity for better play calling ability and has merely not utilized it yet? It is not Shottys fault that he is too predictable and conservative. It is the Jets fault for having him call the plays.
Least h e takes responsibility... i actualy appreciate that, unlike Mangini who stands behind every stupid thing he does with stating he needs to review the tapes again and again to properly anwser the questions....
We all have to play better, I have to coach better, I have to call better plays The Bolded part left off the first part of the statement. Shotty is basicly laying blame on the players and himself. The big thing is he is not hanging it all on him. He is saying that mistakes are being made on both sides and I agree. Yea, he has not done a great job at the end of this year. That said the players have left a lot to be desired as well in thier work on the field with all the drops and missed throws. This thing can be pinned on the enitre team, players and coaching staff.
Schotty has called some great games this year.. Sometimes it comes down to execution and when you got guys dropping passes which coles dropped a couple last sunday, Favre underthrowing everyone, your coach not going for it at the 2 yard line on 4th and 1.. Schottenhiemer has not been as awful as some of you say
Yeah, and if the Capt. of the Titanic made a hard left turn sooner, he would have missed that iceberg... BShotts is truly living up to his initials..
Oh man. Him saying that just feeds the machine here... 9/10 threads on TGG this season turn into bitchfests about how shitty the coaching is. Can we get off of repeat? The best part is, if he hadn't admitted he needed to call plays better people would bitching about how he said we need to play better. I would say all they have to do is win and people will shut up, but even when this team has won this year the complaints roll in. These guys must like their jobs, or not read newspapers or something. I'd want to kick every reporter and most fans in the nuts if I coached for this team...telling me how to do my job and shit lol.
He called great games in 2006. I don't know what the hell happened to his instincts. As a coach, how do you end up with better talent and regress in your playcalling?
when you refrain from "change"....opposing teams will figure you out. One of the reasons why the Jets were victimized by lesser teams was because of this concept.
On if Leon Washington's had enough offensive touches recently: "I think when you look at the stats, the answer to that is probably no, but I think that when you look at the number of touches we’ve had, we haven’t been real good on third down. That’s hurt our ability to sustain drives and to control the football, which I think we were doing a much better job of early in the season. Leon is always a big part of our planning process, but unfortunately we haven’t gotten it done the last couple of weeks." or you could i dunno give it to leon on third freakin down
According to Dware, Leon Washington - with a whopping 7 touches per game - has more than last year or the year before, so there's nothing to complain about there.
Hey Schotty, Woody gave you the right horses but you seem to be running them in the wrong races each sunday. Well at least the last couple of weeks you must have lost your racing program. Please put the right horses in this race against the fish.
Brian... it's very simple... Today, flood the zone deep, and give lots and LOTS of touches to Jones and Washington. Don't go conservative. Don't play the short game. Don't run silly 1 yard patterns and expect our WRs to make something of nothing. Don't put Bubba Franks on the field. Follow my advice, and today might actually be a fun game to watch, and you may not look like such a boob for once.
