If you somehow knew for a fact that the Patriots and the Ravens were both going to win on Sunday and, therefore, the Jets were mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs, who would you root for on Sunday? The Jets or the Dolphins?

Note that, if the Dolphins win, they would make the playoffs instead of the Patriots.

You root for the Jets to win. Knocking a division rival out of the playoffs is worth it.

This is fuckin retarded - there are going to be actual people that vote for the Dolphins. Only with Jets fans.

Can you imagine Packers fans cheering for the Bears or Vikings AGAINST the Packers. Or Chargers fans cheering for the Broncos this weekend. Or Browns fans cheering for the Ravens.

AND not just cheering against the team against a divisonal rival. BUT when your team is AT home.

    Unreal.

I would still root for the Jets. The reason being because I don't think this team nor most of the fan base can take the suffering of the media writing and talking about Chad Pennington defeating Brett Favre and the Jets at Giants Stadium. As much as I can't stand the Patriots, I would rather knock Pennington and the Dolphins out. At least the Jets and their fans then can walk out of Giants Stadium Sunday with some decency.

Rooting for the Phins to beat the Jets in any game is a good reason to get bitch slapped. Cheering for us to lose? You need you head checked.

you would rather see fucking belicheat continue onto the path of becoming the greatest coach of all time?

I would rather see the feel good story of the dolphins, and maybe just maybe if the qb that we kicked to the curb beats us, it would spark some changes up top

I know this is hypothetical, as this i s 100% impossible (being the ravens play at the same time as the jets), but you ALWAYS root for YOUR TEAM to win, no matter what the stipulations are.

    ....Wow

I was screaming my head off at the Phins game in Dolphin stadium last year. Even when we were 4-12.

For the sake of the question, I'll answer instead of giving these "ho-hum" root for your team, we all want them to win, but just to answer...

The Phins. The Younger Jets fans such as myself, hates the Patriots much more than the Dolphins. Lots of my older friends who are Jets fans, say they hate the Dolphins much more because of the history with the rivalry.

Apart of it with me deals with the Yanks/Sox...But the pure ownage that New England has put on the Jets is embarassing, and the Jets have handled Miami the last several seasons.

Still sucks either way...But Miami a little less.

I'm going with the "always root for your team" ho-hum. I'll be at that game and I'd sooner jump off the upper levels head first into the field than root for the Dolphins.

Yeah put me on the ho-hum always root for the Jets train. I couldn't care less which one of those two made the playoffs if we don't.

Okay that's why the topic starter said "Hypothetical"

And just to have fun with it...I'd rather New England be at home.

Luckily B-More also plays at 4:15, so the Jets have to play hard...Unless its like 21-0 at half for the Ravens.

Yeah, I don't understand this man-love for Chad. I was a fan of his when he was on the Jets, but now he's a division rival. Why on earth would I want to see him embarass my team?

Do I want the dolphins to win? Heeeeelllllll no! especially since I live here in Miami. I'll never here the end of it down here. And out of all teams, what kind of Jet fan would root for the Jets to lose against the stinkin' dolphins. If your a so called jet fan rooting for the dolphins to beat the Jets, than you shouldn't even consider yourself to be a true jets fan. That's like being a Yankee fan, and rooting for the Redsox to beat the Yanks. I don't care who gets fired, wether it's mangini or whoever, I will not stoop down as low as rooting for the Dolphins to beat the Jets. I would not want the Dolphins, or any of there dolfag fans, to have the satisfaction.

    case closed?

you realize that beating the dolfags would ensure the pats making the playoffs, and etching belicheats name among the greatest coaches of all time. He took a team where countless players went down, and with a hs qb he took them to the playoffs, we would be hearing it from the pats fans forever.

I would rather see the dolphins make it and promptly be shown the door

I hate the guy as much as anyone, but if they make the playoffs he deserves a lot of props. Why fight it? The system they run in N.E is amazing and far better than the crap we're stuck with.
