Can anyone make a legit case for not firing mangini?

Why? He hasn't done shit and three years for a Jets HC is an eternity. Look at the history.

Forget the history, He has two winning seasons, and if we make the playoffs two playoff seasons. We will never win anything if we change a coach for not winning a SB in his first two seasons with a team while he's rebuilding the team at the SAME time. It wont happen if he ends up really being garbage after next year then fuck it, but we'll never know till we find out.

first off, all the talk about cowher is a joke. woody hired mangini because he came cheap and secondly, hoping to catch lightening in a bottle with a bellichick deciple. do you really think woody is going to pay a coach 8 million (lol), not going to happen!!!!!!!!!

mangini was a coordinator for one whole season, and he wasn't a very good one at that.. 2/3 of the way thru that season the defense had to call a team meeting because they thought he was being too conservative. ring a bell anyone?????

the problem i see with firing mangini is, woody will only be looking out for the next highly touted coordinator that again will come on the cheap. and then we have another coach learning and screwing up along the way as he learns to be a coach and all the fans will be right back here spewing the same shit that's being spewed here in another three years from now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this team is going to be the team it's been for the past 40 years untill we come up with our own brady at qb. winning franchise's all have one thing in common, a franchise qb, which we haven't had since that short period 40 years ago with namath!!!!!!!!

Mangini will get one at least one more year and I really believe that if the Jets dont make the playoffs then Favre will also be back. He's not going to go out losing down the stretch like he did. Sutton easily will be gone! JMO!

I agree with you about Favre. I've thinking about it and I can't imagine hime going out like this. I think we get another season out of him.

I would say the best option would be give Mangini a one year extension. This way he is not a lame duck next year. Fire Sutton, and really think hard about Shotty as well. Get a QB if Favre does not come back, but I hope that he does come back. Even though he has had a bad year, I am willing to give him another shot keeping in mind he will be with us thru the entire off season.

If I see Mangini scream in the face of at least two players and grabbing at least one facemask this weekend he can stay.

The best reason not to fire Mangini is that whoever would come in here is going to blow up this team, we'll have to rebuild and start over. If you give him one more year, maybe - just maybe, this team can reach its potential next year.

    +1

This is exactly what I would do if I were Tanny/Woody.

    Wasting air

He is not getting fired. End of story. He is Tannenbaum's best friend and the Jets owner and front office have become very family oriented so Woody has gotten to close to the GM and coaches family. Once the season is over we will find out that Jenkins and Favre were hurt and there will changes in the coaching staff. I hope not only Sutton goes, but Schotty also. I bet Mangini gets an extra year on his contract so he will not be a lame duck coach. We will miss out Cowher and be stuck with this piece of crap on more year.

I have to agree with you 100%. 3 years is not enough. He shows potential to be a good coach but still made some mistakes. Maybe the team felt that since Brett wasn't benched due to his poor performance, what could the coach really do to the rest of them?

I think he definitely needs better coordinators, some more viable threats on O, and some depth on the D to allow guys like Jenkins not to be work horses and burn out through the course of a season.

He's been filling the necessary holes, along with is buddy Tanny, and this was a rebuild process. Who knows, maybe he learns where he went wrong this year, as far as motivational tactics are concerned and addresses some more key areas that need help.

Ever since they started getting torched up in the passing game, they tried to sure it up with Ty Law and some adjustments. The adjustments I personally believe are what started opening more running lanes for the opposing teams.

Who knows, but I agree...at least another year. A lot of people are more concerned with the hype and maybe the banter of coworkers or friends, to think about what has to be done to build a team.

Haha I want to see that too.

When they went on the win streak, he had that pissed off look in his eye. People started talking SB and he started buying into the bullshit and got soft. He's still young and it's easy to make that mistake as a young coach.

The PSL factor is looming. The brought Favre in to win and sell PSL's. They aren't sold until the money is in the bank and its not. Cowher may be the only candidate that gives the fan base a sense of cred moving forward. Without that this team may well face an economic dissaster that could well have implications on the Giants as well. I would bet the league is concerned as well.

I don't know where you blowhards come up with this crappy logic.

A coaching change doesn't necessarily mean that the "sky is falling" and that we'll never win..blah blah blah. If that was true...then the Falcons, Ravens and Dolphins should all have losing records.

The Jets have a tonne of talent on this team...and with the right coach, this team could be a perennial playoff contender, IMO.

1 TD to like 6-7 INTs is the coaches fault. The coaches job is to make sure these professional players know what they're doing, the players just have to act. Sure the players aren't really acting right now, but thats because the coaches lack the FIRE to hand the players FIRE on the field.

The Falcons and Dolphins are two teams that are much like our '06 team...well the Falcons have a better roster.

And the Ravens gave their last coach like 5-6 years before they fired him...despite the fact that he was a offensive "genius" who couldn't get his offense going there.

The Jets have a ton of talent we can agree on. The fact that you haven't even given the guy who put that talent together one whole year with that roster is a joke. Much like this fanbase is...

This is the 80th fire mangini/mangini stays thread. Please stop with this nonsense.

They'll give him new coordinators and if he can't go over .500 with next year's tough schedule he gets fired.
