If Woody wants to fill seats in his stadium he will have to generate excitement for the fans. Matt Cassel is the excitement we need. He has all the buzz and would fuel the Jets vs Pats rivalry. He is the #1 FA this season and would be just as big to the fans as bringing Favre to us was this season. To get Cassel we need someone he trusts and that is he Oc in New England. Hire McDaniels as the new HC and he will bring Cassel with him. Best of al Matt would not have to learn a new offense and should be ready to go day one.
This feels like Willie all over again, after the Mets collapse two years ago. They both have the same personality and both have lost control of the locker room. Mangini is worse because a HC can lose games much more than a manager of a baseball team.
I've been saying for a while now that the classic jet unis really have no relevance to this version of the team whatsoever. There's no lineage, no legacy. The only thing this team shares with that '69 team is the name. Parcells bought back the old unis to try and reestablish that link. Once he left, the link left with him.. New unis just might do wonders for this franchise. It did for the Patriots.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. Cassel looks good so far, but that doesn't mean he's proven. In fact, I think without Moss and Welker he doesn't light the skies up as much as he has. Even when he goes 3 deep on the read, the D is still paying far more attention to Randy and Wes out there, which is why they've been so successful spreading the ball. Sorry, not convinced he's anything more than a decent #2.
I think he will force Man to axe Sutton & Shotty as a tradeoff t retaining his job for another year ala what the NYGs did with TC. He will not extend him this year but tell him we will discuss your extension after the 09 season. If Man does not like those terms then he will walk away from the NYJs wiyhout any blood on Woodys hand at least to the way he sees it
The single most successful franchise in US sports marketing doesn't even put the players name on the back of it's uniform. There is no substitute for excellence in an organization. People have a lot less disposable income to blow on multiple Jerseys. In times like today there is something to be said for less instead of more. Inventory that doesn't move costs a fortune. If we are out this weekend I believe Mangini will be gone and a serious run out Cowher will be made. This franchise could be in serious trouble very quickly in this economy.
agree, no way he is around during a walk year. either sign him or cut him. if your not going to sign him, get rid of him before he has a great year and then we can't sign him and puts him in the drivers seat. imagine how bad we would look if that were to happen.
The teams with the most tradition of success don't have to change their uniforms. The Packers, the Cowboys, the Steelers, and yes, the Yankees. Their history is their selling point. We had Namath and 1969 as our history and the staying power of that image is failing, so our selling point isn't strong. No, excellence cannot be replaced, but it can be misdirected by image revitalization. Look at the Buccaneers. And I don't disagree with you about Mangini getting canned after a loss to the Phins.
