I liked Abe when he was motivated and or not hurt. The trouble was that he wasn't both very often. He had the most talent of the 4 number ones we had in 2000. My hope is that Vernon can blossom into the same type of player. Abe was Ok against the run, but man, he was a great pass-rusher. Oh well, we got Mangold so the sting of losing Abe is dulled to me.
While I like Mangold as much as the next guy we could have kept Abraham and Mawae (who helped the Titans clinch homefield advantage in the AFC this year). In retrospect, center would not have been a need had we kept Mawae and our pass rush has sucked badly since we traded Abraham away. The winner in that deal was Denver who essentially moved up in the draft for free.
Abe was big puss sitting out key playoff games for the Jets. is this like the frst time he ever made it through a season..oh..must be contract time!
