Jets' Ellis fined $10K Associated Press Updated: December 23, 2008, 12:29 PM ET FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for throwing snow at fans following the team's loss at Seattle on Sunday. Several fans threw snowballs at New York players and staff as they walked off the field after the Seahawks' 13-3 victory. Ellis then walked over to a pile of snow, picked up a large chunk and tossed it into the stands at Qwest Field, appearing to hit at least a few fans. No one was believed to have been injured. Ellis said Tuesday: "It was all in fun." It's the latest troublesome incident involving Ellis, who was arrested for speeding and marijuana possession last month and could face a suspension next season under the league's substance-abuse policy. Maybe Ellis can get a script for Medical Marijuana. That way, after a loss, he could legally twist one up.. Waay cheaper than throwing snowballs evidently..
Yeah this is very true. But honestly, 10K for that? I know its not much out of his pocket, but that's still a BS fine. So 10K for this and 0 for marijuana possession? Am I missing something here?
The hell with that what did the Seahawks do to the ones that where throwing snowballs at our players?
Good, he certainly deserves it. I also noticed another Jets player throw a snowball at the same guy as he was running in. I'm not sure who, but he needs to be fined as well in my opinion... You can't go around throwing things at the fans, no matter the circumstances.... IN TUNA WE TRUST....
Good point Blitzkrieg. 50k fans making it rain snowballs on the players is fine. 1 player throwing snow in the stands = despicable. Rationality at its finest
As much as I agree that players should not throw things at fans... I know that immediately following the Seattle game, I myself was angered to the point where I would have done something stupid like that out of emotion. I'm sure many of you would have also 30 seconds after the loss. The part that bothers me is Ellis saying "It was all in fun". The idea of our players being in the spirit to have fun and frollick with the SEA fans after that game is scary. I doubt he really meant it though when he said he said that.
Your a piece of shit and fuck you and the dolphins you motherfuckers are dead sunday! Where goin down then your comin too you fucks.
It has nothing to do with being rational, those are simply the rules of the NFL. Players aren't allowed to assault / attack the fans. It's that simple.... I never stated that what the Hawks' fans did was an excuseable act. They too need to be punished in my opinion. How?? Maybe after carefully examining the tapes, they'll find out who the season ticket holders were, and take away their tickets, who knows??... There is one major difference here however. None of the fans involved in the snowballing are paid proffessionals, and none of them are employed by the NFL. Ellis is, and as a result, he deserves what he got in my opinion.... He also deserves to be suspended in 2009 for possession.... IN TUNA WE TRUST....
It really did seem like it was just in fun though, everyone probably got a good laugh out of it, even the fan seemed to enjoy it. It was funny, what a bunch of tight asses.
Chill you really don't need to attack him like that. He is intilted to his opinion no matter how wrong he is.. CHILL MAN
Do I need to hear Evan rant about Eillis embarrassed the Jets by throwing the snowball? Please. That is absurd.
Crowder was find because he was acting like an ass. I have no sympathy for players who act out just because they're sore losers.... IN TUNA WE TRUST....
The first rule of a snowball fight is that you have to fight back. I really don't see the big deal. It was snow, it's not like he threw rocks or something at them. Judging by the way the fans reacted, they thought it was funny. Sure the league has to fine him for doing it, but I still don't think it's a big deal. He should have been fined for weed before this.
That must have been the most expensive snowball thrown in the history of mankind!!... IN TUNA WE TRUST!!...
