Mangini is just like Edwards minus the good sound bites!

Mangini looks lost on the sideline and it is because he has no clue on how to motivate players or call plays himself.

Woody hired him because he came from BB's Pats staff. Mangini was a glorified assistant and BB called the scemes and player assignments.

I hated the pick just like I hated Edwards who was the same under Dungy.

We need a proven HC that can motivate players and send the unmotivated packing.

Also, every member of the coaching staff should be sent packin with him. Not one of them have shown a reason to be kept.

Cowher should be the target, but if he won't come to the Jets I like Schott.

Cowher is the best coach available and Marty got a bumb rap in SanDiego after a 14-2 season. We wish we could have a 14-2 season.

We lost to SD, OAK, DEN, SF, SEA, NE (with a guy who made his first start since HS) you don't think we could have won 1 maybe 2 of those games with a decent coach who is not afraid of taking a chance? You don't think this game would be meaningless if we had a decent coach because we would already have the playoff spot locked up? You are a huge Pennington fan, you don't think that his play this year has something to do with getting the hell away from this CS? The bears got completely out played last night, did you see the emotion they played with with the playoffs on the line and willed themselves to win? Did you see Buffalo blitzing Culter everyplay on the last game tying drive to force him into 2 bad throws and won the game? Did you see the 2nd half of both the Cardinals game and the NE game where our genius coach and motivator went into a prevent and should have lost the NE game?

Have you not seen enough? This season has gone just like the NE game. Get a lead and then get so scared and conservative to try to just run out the season. You don't win championships that way and you ruin franchises that way. Mangini should have not been allowed on the plane after the SEA loss!

Is Marty Schott gonna come to a team that has just fired his son? Just a question...

I wholeheartedly agree. Not that I'm crazy about Cowher, but he's a good coach. He's about the only good reason to sack mangini.

There's a difference between Herm and Mangini: Mangini actually has a clue he just doesn't know how to get the point across and has no "fear" factor.

I do NOT want Marty. Why replace a choker with another choker of grand choker experience?

the only reason to keep Mangini would be if the team progressed this season. yes, in a vacuum going from 4 wins to (possibly) 10 wins would appear to be progress. but that win total didn't occur in a vacuum. this team was 8-3 and with the playoffs in their control have lost 3 out of 4. even if we win this Sunday, the team will finish 2-3 down the playoff stretch against poor competition. I don't see how anyone can look at the way the team is playing now against how they played in the middle of the season and consider that progress. this team has clearly regressed. so, absent of any real progress this season, why the hell would you keep Mangini?

The problem with the ridiculous notion that Mangini deserves credit for taking a 4-12 team to a 9 or 10 win team is it is as if he had nothing to do with the team's going 4-12 last year. He stuck with Chad until Chad took the team out of the playoffs. In short, the team had more talent than a 4-12 team last year, too.

As far as this year, what about all those off season moves by the FO? They weren't intended to upgrade the team, improve the team's prospects? Didn't they in fact provide Mangini with more talent?

And this was not an easy schedule? Oakland, SF, Seattle? Playing NE without Brady? Buffalo after their mirage fast start?

This past Sunday was about the worst coached game I have ever seen. Ever.

No, Mangini does not deserve another season.

To actually get to the playoffs and not choke with 5 games left in the season with teams such as Sea, Buff, and the 49ers

I say the only coach other than Cowher we should take on is Westhoff. His units have consistently performed and he's not some slack-jaw spectator on the sideline.

Hey, the Islanders are my team, and at this point I really hope they move far away.

But, you are right. I am so tired of New Coaches every few years. Even a HOF coach only lasted 3 years with us.

    Wishes the Islanders well, really.

We need a coach who can come in and work with what we have to just get it done. Of course, We can't go with fFavre who will retire anyway. It's time.

He promised his wife he'd kick back on the beaches of Santa Cruz, CA for a year. After that, is anyone's guess.

I think if he does comes back, he's (a) not coming East (b) taking over a rebuilding team. He's just too old for the amount of aggravation that might take.

The D shut down ricky and ronnie, remember we didn't have a K so the Miami D had the luxury of knowing we couldn't kick and Miami also got good FP out of it. We didn't play well early in the season either and that was understandable, we didn't play well until at Buffalo.

Then he has to give him an extension. You really think that is going to happen? Why do you fools not know next year is his last. Owners don't put lame ducks in their HC positions. Not even Johnson is that stupid (I don't think).

So if Mangini stays what prospect is there the team will improve next year?

    Depressing thought...
