Save me the comments on how you hate Mike. Here is what he had to say--most of it already said here: 1. No excuse for the game. The jets did not lay a hand on Seneca Wallace. The fact that they did not lay a hand on him is not disappointing, its "mind boggling." 2. This is a collapse on the level of the Met collapse. (Note: Mike hates the Jets and Mets). 3. Is this a salvageable regime? Look at Coughlin -- 99% of the media wanted him gone. (I like Mike but he never mentions stuff like == HE wanted him gone). Tom was saved by Tikki's performance in Washington -- if they lost he would have been gone. Now everyone thinks Tom is Vince Lombardi, Jr. 4. Mangini had a good first year. Terrible second year. Team is not motivated. Bad game planning. No fire. Because he has no fire as an individual (which is fine) -- the lack of fire in the team looks worse. 5. Sunday's game versus Miami is a referendum. Even though there are bad things -- there are good things. What they do this week -- if they play with a fire and "send Chad packing" then you can go forward with him. They should bring Romeo here as DC and keep the coach -- with an impressive performance. This week will tell you where he is in year 3. The coach has not been helped by the hired guns in the last month: Jenkins and Favre. you will find out whether he is the "man." If they show up -- then he shows that he can be the guy going forward. (Even if they dont make playoffs). You CAN relegate a guys career to one game. The Giants did. The Jets should. ME: I dont like these one game referendums (referenda?). But -- I can deal with that.
Ok fine, he gets one game. Stomp the Dolphins and go 10-6 and I agree he stays. But on the condition that he fires Sutton and gets a big time DC with an aggressive scheme. I also wouldn't mind if he fired Schottie.
I saw him on his TV show late last night and he said the same things. He also said he knows that everyone is going to be calling for his head and want his ass fired, and that he "needs to take the reins" if he wants to keep his job and survive the onslaught. So, that's why i think he is calling this game a referendum- on whether he can re-take control o f the team. IMO I think it's too late.
It is too late. Something is very wrong. I don't know what it is; but, there is something that is just off.

They don't use leon enough, they don't blitz, and they make poor decisions. I can live with it for a game or two, but consistently, they fail to make adjustments. This is on Mangina! He's the freaking HC, do something about it.
Im Listening to this also, i don't like this one game crap.. I feel the body of work is enough to see mangini is finished. he references giving Coughlin one game.. but Coughlin had a history of success Jacksonville and the Giants made the playoffs ever year he was there.. Not even a fair comparison.
I thought Coughlin was just another dictator when he got here. This was supported by the dissent among the veterans. To his credit he was mature and smart enough to change his own style to get the best out of his players and to get rid of the cancer in the locker room. I don' t think our guy has the wisdom to understand his shortcomings and make the necessary adaptations. I mean if you're not flexible enough to make half time adjustments, then how can you possibly grow as a coach. Mangini might be a great coach someday but he needs to be taken down a peg and serve some more time in the back seat before he's given the keys to the car again.
Agreed. You can't go from where we were to where we are, showing clear coaching non-prowess, and keep your job, too.
I think Francesca is giving Mangini one last shred of a benefit of the doubt. I am also willing to give the guy one more game to prove if he can motivate this team at all. But how the hell do you accomplish this with a DC and OC who continually show they are incapable of creative and effective gameplanning? I think Mangini will only be as good as the people who surround him, and right now that's not very good. Mangini will also not change his personality overnight so expecting some "coaches rage" out of him is unrealistic at this point. Who know's. Perhaps after seeing himself so skewered in the media, this fat jerk will have an epiphany.
I'm with you..... he's had three years and barring a miracle the team is continuing to regress. Honestly unless he makes the playoffs and wins a game he should be fired.
Mangini is a "Parcells guy" and Francesa is in with that little clique, that usually shapes his opinions. Regarding Leon, the field yesterday wasn't condusive for him to be effective. Even on the KO returns he couldn't get past the 20 because there was no traction.
A warrior's mentality is required in this game. And that applies at the coaching level as well. If you are on the ropes, you fight like hell to survive, you take chances, you bite, you claw, you throw fucking haymakers. Not going on it on 4th and 1 means you are afraid of being knocked out.
When you can't identify the problem, but your solution is to get rid of everyone that MIGHT be the problem...well how do you take that suggested solution seriously? All you're doing is blaming. Sure, you're backed by a whole board of Jets fans and probably most of the media...but the day fans and media become the reason to do anything is the day that a team falls into shit.

I dont usually watch the post-game on TV (I do the radio) but i caught part of it yesterday and he looked like he was gonna cry. I think he has been humbled by this, and we'll see how he responds to it.
