Wake up. WR is not the problem. It was the QB and the play calling. And I'm not sure one didn't lead to the other (the QB dictating the play calling).
WR isnt the problem but having a big, tall, physichal WR that opposing defenses have to double team constantly can only help. If you told me they could only upgrade one posistion then I wouldnt pick WR because the guys we have are good. But we lack a gamebreaker. It only helps us if we can add one.
The last thing we need is Houshmandzadeh. We need someone big and fast, an athletic specimen like a Brandon Marshall, Plaxico, Moss, Owens, Calvin, etc... Cotchery and Coles are fine, but for this team to be elite offensively, we need an elite WR. Or to get a great QB.
You mean someone like Jordy Nelson, who the Packers took with the second round pick they got from us in exchange for the pick we used on Keller?
All the good teams have big tall wrs? Team Wrs AFC Titans- hmmm. Justin Mcarrreins nope brandon jones is average Steelers- hmm hines wards a big guy and so is santonio holmes Colts- Wayne 6 ft so is harrison clark is a short te gonzalez 6ft Broncos- brandon marshall +1 Patriots- MOss +1 Mia-no NYJ- obv not NFC Panthers- No (maybe you can say muhsin but he gets little catches) Atlanta- Roddy white is 6'2 not very physical go but ill count it +1 Bucs- Bryant is 6-1 but hes a physical guy +1 Giants- Plaxico +1 Cards +2 Min- Sidney rice...But he hasnt got anything done so out of the possible 13 teams that could go to the playoffs 6 teams have tall physical receivers Seems like you really do need a big physical wr in the NFL Not gonna Lie I would love a guy like Marshall but its not neccessary to win in the NFL. Id rather invest in some smash mouth lbs dlineman and safeties
they need someone who doesn't drop half the passes that come his way (ie. Laverneus Coles) being big and tall/fast is an added bonus though
He's not that big and he's not that fast. He racks up decent yards and tons of catches because he's a possession receiver, like all of our current receivers. We just spread the ball around to more players and they don't get much help from the playcalling or QBing. I'll go out on a limb and say Cotch is both bigger and faster than TJ. It would be nice to have a 6'5 beast on the team, but we could definitely work with what we have. On the issue of height, Cotch, Clowney and Stuckey are all listed as 6'- and Smith is 6'2 but he can't catch, so we're not exactly undersized. Hopefully Marcus Henry on the p.s. will work out for us. Anyway, I think our WR core is fine as it is. Some people were saying they don't get separation, but from what I've seen that isn't a problem. edited
