Hehe... I said it all along.. that our problem was not at the QB position. It is something to do with this offensive scheme, or the playcalling.
I Dreaded having to say it but... It was a failure. Pennington will end our miserable season come next week. Mangini and staff are gonna be laughed out of town.
We had a week there after the Tennessee game where we truly believed we could go to the Superbowl. I sure as hell enjoyed that. The whole season has been fun. I still support the trade, we scored a ton of points and won a bunch more games than last year. When we made the trade my view was that it would be good because, win or lose, it would be exciting to watch the Jets again. I think that is precisely how it has played out.
Oh man...with this shitty ass defense and shitty ass WR corp. With out Favre, we are the Raiders of 2008. Phins have too many other great stuff going for them to really make a difference in who is playing QB.
Yet Chad w/ the same CS and less talented players was able to win 10 games and get us to the postseason- amazing how that worked, huh?
Weaker schedule and Penny wouldn't of had carried this team at all. Miami has an identity, the Jets could never figure that out.
Yeah, this is my point of view too. Nothing was going to turn this team into a real super bowl contender and it sure was more fun to watch them play than the 8-8 topout we would have had without Favre in town. If we can just get over this silly notion that Woody has that it's ok to keep bringing in guys with no prior head coaching experience to run the team we might get somewhere. Really we need an upgrade at GM too but the coaching is absolutely killing us.
I think we got a little luck to help us along that year. It was the CS first year out the gate and I think we were still new enough to have some mystery to what we were doing.
Sit Favre next week. Sure, it's going to be his last game, but don't let him look like a fool and throw another few interceptions. He's going to be too depressed after this loss. Start Clemens or Ratliff. At least they'll have something to prove.
Chads not the answer either. The odds of them winning a superbowl with him is slim. He is a good serviceable QB..good enough to give a team false hopes.
Weaker sched????? Weaker than playing Oak, KC, Cincy, SD, SF, Seattle, Buf twice, Den at home, Az at home, NE in Cassell's 1st start???? Spare me that BS. We took care of busienss against teams we should have beaten 2 years ago, we didn't this year that's why we have choked away this season.
You can't get to a SB if you don't make the playoffs. Did Pitt '05 or NYG last year look like SB teams when the playoffs began? NO! You have to get there to have a chance and Chad will have another chance while we watch at home.
The Jets were no better than the Phins of 2007. In 2008 the Phins played great defense, showed some innovation with the wildcat formation, played great special team. All Chad had to do is not make any mistakes. Jets on the other hand, had to rely on Favre to have a chance. Yes, on paper, the defense looks good with the numbers, but in reality the defense stunk. They made every freaking QB look like the off spring of Joe Montana and Tom Brady if they could mate. On offense, no one was getting open. We lost most of the games when Thomas Jones had a great game. No way the Jets are any better than a 6 win team with Pennington as the QB.
If you think a much lower 1st and 2nd draft pick, no 3rd Round Pick, no young QB development and no playoff appearance is better for the team in the long run, than acquiring Favre was worth it. Anybody who didn't see this scam when they acquired him must have been addicted to pain killers.
