It looks like Robertson may have the potential to be an ok guy out of the pen. He certainly has been above average but nothing special in the minors. He did struggle last year for a really bad Tucson Sidewinders but he was pretty good in Midland (AA) in 06 when he had a 2.79 ERA in 84 innings pitched. If you can pitch in the Texas League I'd take the bet you can pitch in the majors. He was traded to Arizona by the A's in the Dan Haren trade

im not hating the idea of bringing in Daniel Cabrera to compete for this 5th spot in the the rotation.

Manual said K-Rod and Putz will split closer duties. I don't know if that's such a great idea. Whatever happend to giving a guy a role?

What I hope this means is that either could come in in the 8th (or even 7th) inning depending on matchups, who is pitching well, etc. This is the way it used to be, before managers became so tied to specific jobs for specific pitchers.

The shots that show the big photos of Gil, Kooz, Grote, Tom, and Tug certainly bring back memories. I consider myself very lucky to have been around (and just the right age - I can identify those guys by sight much more easily than I can some of my own nephews, nieces, and cousins) to see those guys.

Anyone else think that Minaya will convince the Wilpons on Manny?

I think it's doubtful because of the chemistry implications, especially because Manny is better in a market that isn't as intense as New York or Boston. but with Manny's market shrinking by the day, it's possible.

I think he would actually fit well in this clubhouse, and Manny won 2 WS titles in Boston so i seriously doubt that it would matter with him

Manny himself discussed in LA how he liked the carefree environment better, although yes, it's not like he sucked in Boston. But he takes days off, he's a a bit of a headcase, and by the end of his time in Boston his teammates were thrilled to see him go. So I don't think it's an easy decision.

I would bring in Manny without thinking twice. I don't care that he takes days off or any of that bullshit. A lineup with Manny has a better chance of winning a WS then a lineup without Manny. All I care about is winning a championship and the Mets need a bat like Manny.
