I just unsuccessfully tried to find a list online of coaches that were fired after posting a winning record. I know Al Davis fired Art Shell in 1994 after a 9-7 record. I think it is highly unlikely that Mangini gets fired after a minimum of 9 wins.
There is ZERO chance that Mangini would be fired after going 11-5 then bowing out either in the wild card or second round of the playoffs, regardless how poorly we play. We said the EXACT same thing on this board during the 2004 season and Herm came back again of course, but then we had a stinker of a season in '05 then he left. Oh well.
Some here...and its a small amount..have short term memory. If Mangini is guilty of anything..its loyalty..and this loyalty is a very common thing in the NFL. Head Coaches will hang on to OC's and DC's almost long enough to get them fired. We had a head coach who went through several OC's and DC's during his 5 year tenure and held on to a few of them way too long just before Mangini (sorry...I cant type his name without getting weak in the legs). Mangini will be back...and its 100%. His coords. might not...one of them will be gone..and it would be two..but that would be an embarrassment. Mangini...considering his experience..has done a pretty good job as a HC. He has failed where so many other coaches have failed...relying greatly on his DC to fix a problem that Mangini should be the master of.
he voluntarily left to take the head coaching job at the University of Virginia. (Although it was speculated that Parcells and many of the players wanted him out)
arizona could not beat the vikings at home. expecting them to come east and win in foxboro is not realistic.
