The irony here is that Clowney - who probably was on the field for less than ten plays - had more of an impact on helping this team win a game that Gholston has had all year long.
sadly this is true. Actually you could even argue, that Gholston helped us lose that game in denver. Say he got to cutler and sacked him silly instead of waddling after Cutler, cutler is sitting on a 3rd and 20+ inside his ten. kills that drive, boosts our momentum, nets us reasonable field position. Down only a measly td at that point. Could have been a game changer had gholston made that play like we drafted him to.
what happens to him once smith comes back? i think gholston and clowney should be activated and buba franks shouldnt
Thanks for posting this. It's not often you read a good story about an NFL player like this. You got to root for Clowney!
As someone who doubted him & his hands based upon what I saw of him in preseason last year with Packers (not this year), I must at least momentarily eat my words and say ... that was a heckuva catch!
although clowney is a promising reciever, he is definitely a down grade on special teams...i saw him get owned on a few kick offs, most noticebly the 100 yd kick return for a td that was called back thank god.....but you no how this staff is and i wouldnt be suprised if they de activate him when smith is healthyy
Mangini has go to get CLowney more involved with more deep throws. This guy is a weapon, and the only receiver who can run under neath Favre's throws. The fact that Mangini only activated him because Smith got hurt speaks volumes about what's wrong with this coach. Failure to recognize potential. By the way, he should not be on special teams. Guy's a thorobread, don't need him getting hurt or losing speed because of an injury.
I missed all of preseason because of my job, so I didn't know what all the Clowney hype was about. If his catch today is any indicator of his normal level of play, we could have something really special here.
It was so good to finally see Clowney play and what a first reception! He needs to be in more though. He is a legitimate deep threat.
I'm excited about him, and I hope in these last 2 games he can get more involved in the offense. He's our best deep threat because of his speed. We'll see if Manidiot is smart enough to have one or two plays designed for him to go deep.
The hype came from the PS game against Browns when he caught two long bombs from Ratliff. Check out the video^^ on page 1 of this thread. I think the contrast between Ratty and Penny also got people excited.
