Our D was better than ouir O and our D saved the game for us. Yeah Buf scored alot more than usual BUT our O and STs set up all the scores. -We get a 3 and out on the 1st drive, the STs allow a fake punt for a 1st down and Buf gets 3. -Up 14-3 Buf intercepts a pass setting up their 1st TD. -Roscoe Parrish has the great PR off the awful punt setting up Buf at our 24 to set up Buf's 2nd TD. -Favre's 2nd INt was returned to jets territory setting up a Buf FG and Buf trailed 21-20. The only drive where Buf actually had to drive w/o great FP(although they still had good FP) was after the bad punt by Hiodges got a great roll and Buf started at their 36. Our O then got the ball at midfield and went 3 and out putting all the pressure back on the D and the D came through. There was still just under 2 mins left and the D turned over Buf AGAIN then watched the O not be able to convert a 1st down and give it back to Buf AGAIN. The D won the game for us yesterday. The O scored 3 points all 2nd half and that was on a "drive" that began at the Buf 20 thanks to a turnover from the D.
I thought there would be a thread like this, and rightly so. Our offense is good enough to win, but our defense is horrible. The bottom line: We have a non-existed pass rush. If this does not get somewhat fixed, if we even make it to the playoffs; I would not expect us to go very far. I was looking at the Pitt/Rav game for a while last night. We are not even remotely in the same league as those defenses.
If it wasn't for a fluke INT and the fake punt first down yesterdays game would have been a blowout on both sides of the ball. Stop all the crying we are in the hunt for the division with two winable games in front of us. Outside of the Steelers there isn't another team in the AFC that is clearly better than us.
No Jauron or whomever callled that play on the Bills side won the game for us & in the process probably also saved Mangini job at least for another week
They have to stop trying to strip the ball and tackle. Hit somebody. Harris is pretty much the only guy who knows how to tackle.
you make some valid points, junc....but didn't you see the pathetic tackling? Lynch was carrying our front 7 on his back and getting first downs by himself! And it wasn't one isolated incident...it was happening all game. The defense won us the game on that fumble recovery....but you can't sit there and tell me this defense will carry us into the playoffs....Teams like the Colts would carve them up systematically.
Gee whiz how come nobody has mentioned raining boos down on our D & our dear owner was there with Michael Douglas as his guest must have been pretty embrassing to him. I wonder just what was going thru his brain as he heard the boos coming down from the faithful
they did their job yesterday...putting up 24 points....and gave us a chance to win. The Defense made the game-saving play...but that doesn't define how the D played the rest of the game...not by a longshot.
I think this is the biggest problem. It's as if Sutton and Mangini REFUSE to adjust, and go into the blind "let's just stay the course" mentality. It's fucking terrible.
They also set up 10 pts for Buf w/ 2 INts and had the ball at midfield w/ a chance to tie or take the lead and couldn't even get a 1st down. The O was very good in the 1st half but non existent in the 2nd half. Our D won us that game yesterday.
A good drive to open the game. Another good drive with the touchdown to Cotch. The Leon run from scrimmage through a nice seam created by our offensive line. Against Broncs and SF we were flat - no excuses.
Our D couldn's stop a "fart in the wind", junc....anybody who believes otherwise is legally stupid. I was embarrassed watching Lynch carry 3/4 of our defensive players on his back into the end zone.
