If this guy said he was coming out today, I'd have him #1 on my "I hope he falls to the Jet" wish list in the draft. He just reminds me of Richard Seymour and all those other tall, dominant DT/DE's that came out in that like...3-4 year period...Henderson, Haynesworth, Williams, Seymour, and so on. Or at least thats what he sounds like. If someone who has actually seen this beast can tell me more, I'd like to know. Thanks.
I haven't seen him much myself, but I have talked a lot with a guy who has personally scouted him and he was very unimpressed with him this year. He likely won't declare for the draft and will go back to Duke for his senior season, but if he does declare he will most likely be there at our 2nd round pick if we have it. From what I have seen I would not compare him to Seymour at all. Just from those clips the one thing I can see is that of the Duke D-linemen he is usually the last one to move after the snap which isn't a good thing. Also, G-tech's O-line outside of RT Andrew Gardner is garbage. Don't let their rushing #s fool you about their O-line - they run the triple option. The triple options forces the OLBs to come inside to stop the FB, and then the QB will pull it and take it outside where he will have a 1-on-1 with either the OLB or a CB only to pitch it to the RB (Dwyer) once the 1-on-1 defender commits to the QB so the RB has a ton of room on the outside to move.
I need more than that. Too vague. Round projections are BS right now...I'm asking more about what he does on the field.
Why? Its not like Duke is going to do anything next season, and this is a very weak DT class, with a good combine he could sneak into the bottom of the first round.
He's staying (thank god). And bite your tongue, we are going bowling next year. Mike Tauiliili is someone worth looking at from Duke IMO. 2nd Team Walter Camp AA, 3rd team AP. Tough to get any national recognition when you're playing at a place like Duke.
