Although Im freezing my ass of this morning....you probably want to "wait" to see if global warning is real too. Oh.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope U realize that it has been 40 years since we last won a SB. Are you saying that us fans are reactionary cause we have won NOTHING in the last 40 years? You have to also realize that since we won NOTHING in the past 40 years we have been rebuilding each & every one of those years & have flopped every year in that endeavor. From the looks of our D at this time it appears 08 will also fall onto the negative side of the column sorry to say. I wonder why with all that negative history you would say us fans are reactionary when all we are reacting to is our players performance on the field which you will admit has been pitiful at best lately
If we go down the crapper this year Favre is done either way since I am sure he has no desire to continue playing for a losing team
Impatient how can U even say that when the last time we won a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP was on 01/12/69? Please kindly explain if 40 years is not long enough to wait for a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP how many more years beyond 40 is acceptable to you?
Impatience over waiting 40 years is one thing and I share that impatience. But impatience to the point of wanting to fire a coach who participated in the hiring of many new players this year and who now has us at 8-5 with a possible playoff berth is stupidity. Last year at just about this time, some Giants fans wanted Coughlin fired too. Are you saying you want Mangini fired tomorrow morning because we haven't won a SB in 40 years?
Man has begun to show those Herm like symptoms which I am sure you know what I mean. In that case if my assessment is correct then yes I want him gone ASAP since time is awasting to get that elusive 2nd SB victory. BTW getting to the POs & then being evicted in round 1 is really not an achievement at least in my book. Nor is a 2nd round appearence & then eviction. Getting to the SB gets him some very small kudos since there is no guarantee that next year that will lead to a SB victory (see this years Pats). Also just because Coughlin got his team up to win it all last year has totally no effect on Man since him & Coughlin are totally different people. IMHO your bar for excellence like most on this board is way, way, way to low. Also in case you have not realize it we are ending 9 years of ownership under Woody & my question is are we any better NOW then we were 9 years ago when he took over?
Woody is not getting rid of Mangini because he knows damn well that no coach worth his salt would be interested in the Jets head coaching job. This team is not only plagued with a pathetic defense, they have no future QB and a mediocre First Round Pick. The Favre signing set the rebuilding process for this team back 3-4 seasons.
I am not willing to want him fired, at least not now. 3 weeks from now I may start feeling differently, so every month and every year is a re-evaluation for me. As far as Tom Coughlin is concerned, I only use this as an example of short-sighted fans wanting his head on a stick, then winning it all. I'll bet many of them disappeared rather quickly off of whatever Giants board they were on after that. And no, my standards are not too low. My standards are no lower than yours are. In fact, we both want the same thing. You haven't waited one minute longer than I have or cherish the 1969 win any more than I do. I just don't want him fired at the moment... not saying I can't/won't change my mind and won't review that option at some point. Nothing is cast in stone, ever. For now... for NOW, there's no reason to fire Mangini. As far as comparisons to Herm goes, please. I think he'd have a ways to go to get there. I gave Herm far too many passes I think... that is my regret, totally. I think the media and everyone else did the same thing. It wore thin with me when it became apparent his game day decisions were poor and his clock management even worse. Perhaps you were right on Herm much earlier than I was... I'm willing to concede that, but I had my reasons for wanting him to have every chance. In the end, he was just too inept (to wit, the KC Chiefs today). But with Mangini, let's see where we both are 3 weeks from now (or 6 weeks... GULP...!!!!). Can you imagine?
OK & yes I agree if we looked into the NYGs boards naturally all those calling for TC heads disappeared. No hurry discussing this since Mangini is not going anywhere until this season ends so we all have a opportunity to watch & see if Mangini fiddles while the NYJs go down in a burst of flames
Do U really think what we think has any effect whatsoever on the players on the field or the results of the game? You win cuase you have stronger horses then the other side you lose cause the other side has stronger horses then you do. Right now when U look at our D you have to wonder what JPL will do to us in a very few short hours
