20 points was enough to win the game against the Giants if the defense didn't shit the bed and/or they didn't get a few stupid mental mistake penalties. The pick in regulation in that game was fumbled on the return and recovered by the Packers for a first down. The one is OT was an awful pass, but like I said it never should have been in OT. Favre did his job against a defense that held the most prolific offense in the history of the league to just 14 points two weeks later. I will go back and look at the other games again - I don't remember them well enough off the top of my head and I'm at work. I did go over these at one point and find at least 1 other than the 4th and 26 where he had done his job. All of those are better than 3 lousy points though.
So putting up 20 in the cold weather against a nasty defense is easier than doing it on the field turf in Arizona because they had the home crowd? Silly. He did his job - rewatch the game. Pennington wouldn't even have made it close to a game. He would have led the offense to 3 points and you'd say he didn't play bad. Please, this thread isn't about Favre anyway.
Months after Chad has gone, never to return, we still have a case of metastasizing cancer in the fanbase. In essence, Chad Fans don't really understand the game. They are more intrigued by Chad's narrative: The guy can't put up more than 3 points in the most important playoff game of the last ten years, with the leading rusher in the conference, and a very good defense and special teams. Answer by Chad Fans? We should be happy he was out there because his rotator cuff was hoit. What, is that supposed to be some kind of consolation? Non-Chad Fans recognize that his whole history of injury goes into the equation, and not to his credit. But to Chad Fans, he is to be admired to the exclusion of considering how well he does his actual job on the field. "He gave his all!" And he got overpaid for it, and he didn't get it done. "The FO, CS and ownership will be shown how right we were he shouldn't have been let go and how wrong they were to let him if only, God willing!, the fish can beat the Jets in week 17!" We get that you love Chad more than the Jets. Just not sure why you still want to call yourselves Jet fans.
The only excuse I make for chad in that Pitt game is he missed those two game winning FGs. I think his rotator cuff threw off his kicking motion.
I know, I should try and better understand how Favre was the only guy on the field in those playoff games. What am I thinking? I'm just telling you the truth. Favre isn't perfect he fucks up too, but those losses aren't all on him and he's done enough to get some of those wins. You seem to think it's just fine when penny puts up 3 lousy points and loses, but when Favre puts up 20 and loses it was a bad performance? You're nuts.
Getting into position for 2 40+ yard FG's plus one other is an outstanding offensive performance. No excuses from you though ...
An attempt at humor. Well, I give you credit for not trying to defend Chad's performance in that Pitt game. Ftr that is when I gave up on him.
Say what you want about me but I dont post off topic just to insult someone like many others around here do.
Learn something from you? Why jack a Pinto when you own a Cadi? Why would I want to listen to fragments of reality? Your reality, at that. I'll pass on that big guy, but thanks. OK that's great that he got us to the playoffs all those times, but he did in fact inherit a team in place, for the most part, and had CURTIS MARTIN to help. Look either you have selective memory, or you're just talking out of your ass. How do you explain the clock management nonsense and shitty calls to take a knee for a long-ass FG. How do you explain 7 yard dump passes on 3rd and 12+ even when historically you haven't converted in the same scenario....even up to the last year he was here... ALLLL of those things you overlook. Mangini has said from day 1 he is "rebuilding this team" and he has. He spent the first year evaluating current culture and talent, the second year was brutal with injuries and departures, and year 3 he's addressed a large chunk of the issues with success. NFL.com didn't mention that did they? I can go all day thinking of instances where Herm or Chad were disasters, but you'll never address those will you?
If we lose one more game, but beat the dolphins, we are ahead of them regardless of how they do in the next 2 weeks. The patriots are really the ones that we should be afraid of if we lose before the fins game.
