Debating with junc is like convincing the Rainman that Judge Wapner was cancelled and it won't be on anymore. P.S. Don't touch his head.
I dont remember Chad playing horrible in the pitt playoff game? I remember him leading us on two game winning drives and the kicker losing the game for us....twice. I did not realize it was chad's fault all along.
See Pittsburgh and NE. Chad always goes into a shell against top defenses. It's no secret. What is he 2-3 with wins over 2 poor defenses? edit: I actually hope we win the division and they somehow get the wildcard and face Tenn, Balt, or Pitt in the playoffs so we can see this happen again.
Instead of being so hostil you should pay attention and you might learn a thing or 2. I gave Mangini a pass for last year and I don't think he should be fired if we don't make it this year so there goes another theory of yours. There's no such thing as backing in, you either win the games you need or you don't and how exactly did we back in anyway when we beat oak in Oak in '01 then beat up NE in NE on a Sunday Night following that up w/ a humiliation of the great Brett favre and GB? How did we back in again exactly? He was playing w/ a torn rotator cuff in that Pitt game and while not good he wasn't terrible either. He didn't cost us that game our K did. It was a TD game w/ 5 mis left, that Pats game turned on a fluke backwards pass that was a fumble. Herm inherited a team that missed the playoffs 2 straight years and led us 3 of 4 but that wasn't good while Mangini hasn't won a playoff game but he's showing progress:lol: 2-3 is better than Brett's playoff record since 1998. Chad wasn't bad against Pitt or NE, he was bad against Oak.
He beat two average defenses and predictably got beat by good/great defenses. This isn't about Brett, but tell me how many PO appearances, division titles and NFC championship games he made it to in the last decade? He did not play well at all against Pitt. He played like a scared puppy dog. He went into a shell against NE too. He has a real hard time against top defenses. He always has and likely always will. You actually think he played well against Pitt and NE? If you do then I guess we just have to agree to disagree. edit: Please help me understand how Brett is responsible for things like 4th and 26 in the PO's too. He put up enough points in some of those losses but the team failed to play defense.
He beat Peyton manning and the Colts 41-0, he led us to a road playoff win over a team that did not lose a game at home in that year to any team besides the Jets. Minimize that all you want but those are 2 great wins. Brett only made 1 title game in the last decade and he threw it away at home against a team he should have been able to beat. Chad didn't play scred against Pitt, Pitt had a top notch D and he was playing w/ a TORN ROTATOR CUFF in his throwing shoulder. I didn't say he played well against Pitt and NE just that he wasn't horrible. He was ok. Not good enough.
Leading us on two game winning drives?! Chad had one drive all game that resulted in a score. We got a FG out of it. The only touchdown we had all game was on a Santana Moss punt return. After Doug Brien missed the first field goal, we got an INT that put us right back in field goal range. What did Chad do then? Hand off, two yard pass, takes a knee... A FUCKIN KNEE?!
They were great wins, and great to watch, but they were NOT against great defenses. My point is that he goes into a shell against the best defenses. lol - you mean the team that held the most prolific offense in the HISTORY of the league to a whopping 14 points 2 weeks later? How many did the Pack score on them again? The Packers defense cost them that game, it should have never made it to OT. I disagree, he played like a little girl IMO. He always does against top notch D's. If his TORN ROTATOR CUFF was preventing him from helping the team score more than THREE FUCKING POINTS he should have let someone else do the job. Great guy, I commend him on his good intentions, but maybe it wasn't such a smart choice if he can't help the team. And he didn't. So not good enough is OK with you? That's stupid.
The point was, against a top defense, in the playoffs, on the road, in crunch time at the end of the game, through deafening crowd noise, our QB drove us into position to win the game. Twice That was big time play.
Favre was not responsible for that 4th down play BUT if he led GB to 1 more 1st down they win AND much like last year Favre threw the INT in OT that led to the game winning score for the opponent. 1998: 27 pts, he did his job. 2001: 6 INTs and 17 pts 2002: 2 INts and 7 pts 2003: Game ending INT, 17 pts in 5 qtrs 2004: 4 INT and 17 pts 2007: 2 INts(including game ender) and 20 pts in 5 qtrs When exactly has he put up enough pts to win besides that '98 SF game?
