Yes. While I am very much in a one game at a time mental framework right now, and reluctant to look ahead to week 17 for that reason, it is also true that each one of these games are ones we will see what the CS is made of. They've had their time to show their stuff. They've got players who have shown they can be quite good or quite bad. Time to show what coaching can do in such a situation. Not time for making excuses. It starts this Sunday. Turn it around, CS, or whether or not Woody actually S-cans anyone, there should be some who get it.
I don't think anyone will be fires... Favre may retire. But man would that really be a kick in the balls. I know my friends would never let me hear the end of it.
I don't understand this statement. Chad gave all he could when he was here. Lots of the fans appreciate that. I applauad them and Chad. So appreciative fans are a cancer? Now I prefer Favre but I sure can give Chad his props while he was here and wish him the best in every game where he is not facing us. You sir sound like one of the fans who cheered when Chad hurt his ankle last season.
IMO Mangini does not lose his job ... Although the ENTIRE CS should ... They would have managed to take a team that has all the talent in the world and did nothing with them ... Any good CS could have taken this team to at very least a 13-3 record ... Our CS has managed to make us look like the best team in the NFL and the worst team in the NFL in back to back weeks ... That takes some talent As for PENNINGTON ... Hmmm ... Last I checked it was the 'phins that would have to beat us ... Unless "SUPER" Chad is going to play every position on offense and defense and special teams ... The schedule says we paly the MIAMI DOLPHINS not the CHAD PENNINGTONS ...
In order for Chad to inflict our demise, we have to win the next 2 games don't we? Let's take care of that business first and then worry about Chad. If we lose in either of the next 2 weeks it won't matter if we win vs. Chad or if he beats us 50-0.
If Pennington shreds our secondary he will forever be mentioned in the elite company of Tyler Thigpen, Matt Cassell, and Shaun Hill. Then he'll go to the PO's and look like a scared puppy dog against Tenn, Bal, or Pitt.
We are not a cancer, we were just passionate about the contributions Chad gave to this team and the value he brought as a leader a manager and as a WINNER, which you are seeing in Miami. If he comes in a leads Miami over us this coaching staff flat out fucked up by shipping him out, and the dumb fucks that wanted Clemens in over Pennington before Favre was a discussion should be even more embarrassed.
How is the question without foundation!?!? I don't think it's without foundation at all. When we got Bret, Mangini and Mike T told Bret that he was the missing piece to the Jets. If the Jets got Bret, we would be taken deep into the playoffs. If it turns out Chad takes the Dolphins to the playoffs (let's not forget they were 1-15 last year) and Bret takes us to the same place we were last year, then Mangini was dead wrong. It wasn't Chad that prevented us from playing well, it was coaching. Get ready for it. I've been dreading the last game of the year all season because after 30+ years rooting for this team, cruel twists of irony are commonplace around here. That being said, let's get some positive vibes around here and let's win three games!! Damnit we're not out of it yet.
Outside of Oakland when did he ever have an awful playoff game? He has a better playoff record than favre this decade by the way. Don't even waste your time w/ big blocker. You just can't make this stuff up. So if we lose to our fromer QB Mangini is ok b/c he's making progress? Progress by reaching the playoffs year 1 then not again in years 2 and 3 despite the most talented team we've had all decade? But Herm sucked for leading us to 3 postseasons in 4 years? and you wonder why you cannot be taken seriosuly.
IF the Jets don't make the playoffs (I think they will) and they lose to the 'Fins, I'd make these points about Woody's patience with The Tanginis: Woody didn't spend $140 million on free agents when Herm was here. Woody didn't have a new stadium to finance when Herm was here. Woody didn't watch the QB the Jets released earlier in the year beat them on the last game of the season when Herm was here.
First of all, being taken seriously by you means about as much as getting a piece of chewing gum from someone. Really, you need a little humility because the arrogant youth thing isn't flying well with most people. I know you think you're a football God, and that's OK. We all have the freedom to think whatever we want, but don't come pimping your dogshit at my door, because I don't buy it. You need a little more than NFL.com stats son, especially when you're only focusing on a narrow band of them such as you do. Second of all, this is the second team Herm has had, that has had numerous QB injuries....not because of luck, sir, but because he doesn't know shit about building a football team, nor does he know how to strengthen one. You tell me where KC has gotten better. You tell me where the Jets had gotten better. To the playoffs? They backed in every year except for the year Chad came in. You know, they looked like crap and still made the playoffs because of a shit schedule? The same thing you're complaining about with Mangini, more or less. You can't excuse Herm without excusing Mangini for last year. Oh wait, it's junc I'm talking to, of course he can and will do that. Idiot.
The only way Chad beats the Jets week 17 is if the Jets are playing so poorly that they'd lose to just about anybody. If the Jets that played against Arizona and Tennessee show up the game is going to be over on the first few drives because Chad can't handle an explosive offensive start by the other team, he folds and goes into a shell. Same is true if the Jet's defense somehow miraculously turns into a force, although I think that scenario is less likely. On the other hand, if the Jets show up and play tentative and not to lose then I think there's a really good chance we get our ass handed to us by the Dolphins, because Chad knows how to win those games by just not making many mistakes and letting the other team lose.
The 2004 finale against Pittsburgh he was terrible. Dinking and dunking the whole way and not leading the Jets to a single TD in the process. The Steelers tried to hand that game to the Jets over and over again and Chad wouldn't take the handoff. There's a reason that Herm opted to play it safe and go for long FG's at the end: he had no confidence in Chad to do anything with the ball. And yes, Chad was hurt but it was still a stinker of a performance. The 2006 game against the Pats Chad did what he always has done against a superior team: played it close to the vest until the other team decided to run away with the game. The numbers looked ok, but the performance sucked and Chad triggered the defeat with that terrible lateral in the 3rd quarter.
Here's the thing that speaks the loudest about Herm Edwards: He was a shitty clock management coach (amongst other things), so instead of learning from his mistakes he gets Dick Curl to do it. Because we all know Herm was INSANELY busy on the sideline position his chess pieces for the big kill! And to top that off, Dick Curl was just as bad. If that one little thing, doesn't say it all about the Herm years, then what does? Certainly being bounced out of the playoffs early in a convincing fashion with the exception of one year, speaks the real truth. But stats can't portray those facts. So we go with "wow he was better than most of the other schlubbs we had" Was he good? Me no think so.
